    The 14 seeds were Samford, 25-7, Montana, 18-14, Navy, 20-11 or Gardner-Webb, 23-10.

I guess, on a relative basis, it might have been a bit more convenient to draw one of the 3's, but then it would have been nice to win some of those games we left on the table over the course of the season, too.

Just for giggles, three years ago, we were 30-2 and a 7 seed. The 7 seeds this year: Iowa State, 22-10, Arizona State, 20-10, Louisville, 20-12, and Rutgers, 19-12.

I thought we were a 10 seed that first year?

very well. I for some reason thought we were the 10. Gosh that was a good game. Wonder if the girls can shoot the 3 like that again, that would be awesome.

Reading the ESPN article, Jill Young and Kristin Rotert were huge in that game.

We need huge games from them in Cincinatti to have a chance. They've done it before.

I was looking over the box score and was just thinking that. channel their former tourny first round effort and watch out. And if they are un able to channel that and we struggle shooting, watch out.

Sure thing. If you do want any tourist info, let me know.

              Some pointers -
HOTELS - There is a Quality Inn in Norwood, which may even be recommended to you. It's right down the street from Xavier, has its own restaurant (mexican fare), as well as a couple other places in walking distance. It's past its prime, and some may say run down, however.

If you are looking for budget, there is a Motel 6 a bit further out. Looking for pricier, you can try the downtown Cincinnati outlets (Westin, Hilton, Hyatt, etc)

Want to make a weekend of it with the family - there is a Great Wolf Lodge (indoor waterpark, about 20 miles from the arena, and a straight shot up I-71)

NIGHTLIFE - look up Newport on the Levee - they have movie theatres, cabaret, comedy club, Gameworks, luxury bowling, and a few bars and restaurants, including a Hofbrauhaus across the street if you are into German beer. There are even some hotels right around the area. If the flood waters go down, that will make even more available in the newport area that is currently sealed off by flood gates. of special note: tey also have a really nice aquarium during the day, and again, if the flooding goes down, riverboat rides. If you are into Casino gambling, check out Hollywood Casino about 30 minutes away.

TO EAT - You haven't visited Cincinnati if you don't try Cincinnati Chili. You can get some at the arena on the east concourse, but lookup either Skyline Chili or Gold Star Chili. Other popular places are Montgomery Inn (BBQ Ribs), LaRosas (Pizza, also available in arena), and Graeter's Ice Cream.

PARKING - plenty of it at the arena, and if it's like last year, tournament parking was FREE.

Most if not all seating will be lower bowl, and the sightlines are great, really not a bad seat to be found. If you get the all session ticket, you can get some seats towards the top along the sides. Last year, they may have had some seating upstairs when the lower level filled. Not more than three rows worth upstairs that I saw.

Is it easy to get reservations at that restaurant on the water across the river from Cinci that broke loose and floated down river?

Sure, you even get a free boat ride. There is no captain and crew on the Good Ship Waterfront. but it does float.

Did I mention the flooding we are dealing with right now? Being a river town, we have several boats and barges with restaurants and the like in town. All but one shut their doors to customers when the flood warnings went out. The Waterfront not only stayed open, but with much bravado got on the news and boasted about how they were going to stay open despite the flooding. You see how that worked out for them.

Latest word is the Waterfront may never reopen in Cincinnati. Something about their liability carrier not being too amused about the whole deal.

Yeah, I guess I probably shouldn't make light of your area's flooding issues, it's definately not fun, but at least no one got hurt/killed in that incident. It's too bad they may lose their business because of it.

We'll be having our own flooding issues soon when all the snow here and north melts.

I was in Cinci back in '98, loved my week there. Would love to get back for this game, but it's a no go.

I have to admit, I've got a feeling of doom coming into this game. I don't know what it is, call me a crappy fan or whatever, I just have a feeling we're gonna get blown out on sunday.

I never felt that way against TCU or Baylor in '09 or Oklahoma in '10.

I hope our women prove me wrong and give Xavier all they can handle.

So if I agree with this, is that considered "attacking the poster, not the post?"

Buck up RR. It's a tough row to hoe, but my feelings on this team are way different. I'm not going to be a cheerleader and go on a long spinning rant about being a fan(as I sometimes do). But in the past the expectation to win has always been there. Here there appears no expectation, I think that bodes well. I have a nice easy feeling, that's all I'm saying, enjoy the game!

The thing with first round games I believe,is that the higher seeds play just hard enough to win and advance. If there's not that much difference between the two teams in the matchup, then the lower seed team,if they play with more heart and desire, and play a pretty "clean" ,mistake free game, they can pull off an "upset".The trick is if you can catch a team being a little lazy or lax, jump all over them, put the pedal to the metal and don't look back(don't start to "overthink" instead of continuing what has been successful)That's how "upsets " happen in my opinion.Go Jacks!...... get a little bit of "honey badger" attitude and make Xavier or anyone in the future "dread" being matched up with the Jacks.Play smart, play hard, play a clean game.
This tournament will be the last time when we'll have two players on the team who will likely end up # 1 and #2 in career 3 pt shots.....end the season being # 1 in career 3 pts. Kristin, you deserve it.

With Xavier's size we might have to put up a bunch of threes (many more than usual) and hit a huge percentage of them.
When you put on that jersey, the name on the front is more important than the name on the back.

I was hoping to see an effort like we had against TCU a 2 years ago, that would be a nice start.

No worries, one of the business partners behind the Waterfront cracked the "Free boat rides" joke in the middle of the evacuation. It's actually a barge, and luckily for them the cabling for utilities is extra long because floating things tend to rise and fall with the river level. So they never lost electricity.

The river is still up as I type this, but they tell us its crested, now its just the waiting game for it to go down. Some low laying streets are starting to reopen. Nothing that should cause you any problems if you decide to come to the game.

That's cool about the bus trip. For us, it is of course local, for Lousiville its 90 minutes away, and for Vanderbilt its around a 5 hour drive. Glad to hear you will have some fans in attendance, I mean it, that helps with the whole tournament atmosphere.
