Why would he have to sit out a transfer year, coming from a different division of basketball?

I think Mr. Moffitt is transferring up to D1 from NAIA? If he were starting at D1 and choose to transfer to D2 or D3 or NAIA, he would not have to sit. Also this will work out better for SDSU. We have one less recruit to find after 13-14. Apparently this kid can play D1 ball, although I don't know much about him. I am sure the SF fans will chime in here on what he can and cant do.

Your post is somewhat correct, but USF is NCAA D2, not NAIA.

How quickly I forget. OH yes the great SF rivalry, USF vs Augie. I was still thinking USF and the GPAC. Trying to see what his stats where last year at the USF site.

Here is what I found over on the USF website:

Looks like he will make a good doctor, the BB stats do not jump out at you but he might become a great role player. I wish him well at SDSU.

He has good size, 6'-4". Wonder if they plan to try to use him at the point?

Realistically, there is a 95% chance he will be used as a practice player. A fresh, warm body to help scholarship players get better.

Of course as fans, many of us expect every guy on the team to average 20 points, 10 rebounds, or 5 assists a game.

I distinctly remember several posters being VERY down on Brayden Carlson earlier in his career, saying he wasn't a DI player, didn't belong, blah, blah, blah. Carlson had 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists against Michigan, he certainly doesn't belong. But just wait and see, people will bang on him again next season when he isn't playing with the best player in school history anymore.

Not me, I think Brayden is terrific and does a lot of the "non stat" dirty work just like Tony Fiegen. That type of team first attitude is extremely valuable. Plus the fact that he can bust out for 20 points and can be one of the most exciting players on the floor - count me as a fan. Off the court he is a terrific young man too. Just the type of Jackrabbit I like! Apologies for thread drift. Welcome Keaton Moffitt who I assume will be filling the walk on shoes vacated by Joey Feilmier.
Message for the youth: “Set your goals high and work for them, because if you set your goals where they should be, it’s going to require a lot of hard work. And even if you don’t achieve them, it shows longevity, and it shows commitment. And those are both things you need for the rest of your life,” Tony Fiegen

I'm just waiting for the announcement of Cody Larson's waiver... Because him and Dykstra should provide plenty of scoring and I think Bittle is as good if not better of a defender as Nate. Really the team defense may be alot better next year.

Probably right, just a little odd he transferred up. Usually the practice players start at State and transfer down where they can get more playing time.

Keaton Moffitt says he left USF for "personal reasons" and will transfer to SDSU as walk-on. The O'Gorman grad will have to sit out a year.

He is a better defender than Nate. And if Heemstra plays with more restraint defensively (I think some of his over-aggression defensively was driven because he knew he was playing a limited roll and could force the issue) he is a better defender than Tony. Our defense should be better next year, and that will keep us in and win games. Creating shots will be more difficult.

Definitely. I'm waiting to see what kind of player Larson is, can you just throw him the ball in the post and let him score on summit defenders? We have a lot of really good shooters that will knock down shots if he's good at passing out of double teams.
