It wouldn't be the first time that NDSU has stolen your porshe.

Anyway, I think both Nagy and Miles are getting some solid recruits and both schools will be ready to make some noise by the time they are playoff eligable. I am very excited about the start of basketball season and I can't wait to see how good these new players are. I've already got my tickets and I am counting down the days until NDSU and Minnesota face off in the Barn.

I have not idea if what he stated was true, but I can't remember anything that D posted on bisonville not being true. He really seems to be connected somehow to the ND/SD/MN recruiting scene.

He may be connected but I will put my trust in Coach Scott Nagy.

        Go State!  ;D

P.S.  The Dakota Schoolers web site has been very fast to report their player's verbals and I have yet to see them post anyting about Michael Tveidt.  The Schoolers site has posted  Zach Finley's commitment since D "broke" the  news of Tveidt committing.

Looks like D knows his stuff regarding Tveidt. Looks like Miles brings in yet another solid recruit. Here is the story

Tveidt is a good get for the Bison congrats. I know some of my fellow Jackrabbits have expressed that they felt like NDSU came in and stole our porshe, but the reality is our pair of porshes are safe and sound in our garage (Bassett and Cordova). We had no scholarships available so Tveidt was more like a porshe on a car lot waiting to be picked up.

All I can tell you is I trust Coach Nagy and I am thrilled with our recruits. Bassett looks and sounds great by all acounts and Cordova is a two star forward according to scout.com

So best of luck to Michael Tveidt, I'm sure he and his family will enjoy the opportunity to visit Frost Arena every year.

              Go Jackrabbits! ;D

Just wondering out-loud. Did Tviedt run out of options? I mean to go from out-of-state mid-major teams to NDSU seems like a stretch.

It would be nice if all SD kids stayed at SD schools regardless of scholarship money, but thats completely impractical. As is said, accept the things you can't change, change the things you can, and have the wisdom to recognize which is which.

Good like to Michael Tviedt, can't wait to stomp Tviedt and the Bison in Frost arena. Ask Denver about that.

I am also wondering out loud and its seems very hard to guess what Tveidt's options where and why he chose NDSU. Yes the serendity prayer does apply here and what happen to Tveidt's, WU-Milwaukee option is a real mystery.

If Micheal is happy in his choice, so am I.

It may be a while before the SD's best will be begging for a scholarship at SDSU, but that day will come particularily if after 2008-09 Nagy rings up a 20 win season.  I recall a year ago Nagy speaking of how rough it had been around the state in recruiting SD kids being that SDSU was ineligible for a NC during the 5 year reclassification period.  Whether this preception played into this decision or not, I really dont know. I would not be too surprised if it did.

I can't believe that there is a big difference between Tviedt and Cordova, based on the scholarship offers. Nagy had offers out to both of them at the same time, so he must not have seen a big difference. If Tviedt was a lot better than Cordova than he probably would have left his offer open until he definetly declined us, and then made a push at Cordova.

I doubt that had any factor in this case, considering NDSU is in the same position postseason eligibility wise as we are.

Tviedt is the better player at the time, but Cordova has huge potential, and Nagy may have been looking at that. Cordova has gotten much better, just this summer. Think of what will happen when Nagy gets a year or two with him.

I've been reading this site from time to time and decided to join as it seems like a decent site full of interested fans.  A few things about Tveidts recruitment.  He had many options other than the one he chose.  SDSU did offer Tveidt and had an offer on the table up until the point in time they offered Cordova.  SDSU did a nice job of recruiting him and went to many of his games last year.  They showed as much or more interest of any school recruiting him. Until this past July the only two Division 1 offers that Tveidt had were NDSU & SDSU.  Tveidt wasn't showing much interest in SDSU so SDSU went after the next best Athlete the state had to offer.

The recruitment of Tveidt was similar to that of Denver TenBroek except that Tveidt had bigger offers come his way in mid to late July.  At least 20 schools contacted and at least 15 offers came his way.  He made a decision to narrow his list down in September to 4 schools which were as follows:

                          NDSU
                          UNC Wilmington
                          Richmond
                          UW Milwaukee

UWM was a sweet 16 school last year and in the minds of many a great fit based on last years success

Richmond is in the Atlantic 10 conference and competes with schools the likes of George Washington, U Mass, Temple, Xavier, St. Louis, Dusquane, Dayton etc.

Tveidt visited all four schools and could have had his pick of any of the four.  To say that he was seeking bigger options other than NDSU and SDSU and they didn't come his way is to be uninformed.  Richmond is in a HIGH MAJOR conference.  He could have choosen to play at that level.  UNC Wilmington & UW Milwaukee are both strong Mid Major teams.

NDSU & SDSU are new to the Division 1 level and will take many years before either sees an NCAA tournament.  Michael Tveidt surely won't play in one while attending NDSU and he won't jump to a higher league from that school as it rarely happens.

As far as luring the states top talent to SDSU, it will only happen if an athlete has a strong desire to play Division 1 and they do not have very many other offers on the table.  Most athletes love competition and like rewards for their individual and team efforts.  Not many like to play their butts off, train all year long to have their season end March 1st every year regardless of record.  Until SDSU is established in a conference and is eligible for an NCAA tournament the states top talent will look elsewhere.  That's not to say that quality athletes with limited options won't choose to stay home.  But it will be a long time before an athlete with the talent of Mike Miller, Joe Krabbenhoft or Jared Reiner sign up for the Jacks.  I'm not bashing here only trying to be realistic and I for one truly hope the Jacks do well this season.

As for Michael Tveidt, only he can answer why he chose to attend NDSU!

Exactly. Let's wish him the best of luck (in all but two games each year) and move on. There are a million reasons why a kid choses where he or she wants to go to school. I'm happy with Cordova, and I'm happy for NDSU, our respectful and friendly rivals, for getting a great kid in Tveidt.

Maybe Tviedt liked what he saw at NDSU. Miles is doing some good things and is definately bringing in some good talent. And I wouldn't be too sure about the Jacks beating up on NDSU anymore because from what I see our two teams are pretty much the same. Young, talented, and well coached. I think we may be in for some exciting basketball at both Frost and the BSA this year.

By Godfrey, Cadsev, that was well said. You're completely right. Until SDSU gets close to playoff eligibility, conference offers aren't likely, and top recruits are going to be thin and hard to come by. Nagy is going to have to find his diamonds in the rough. I think he'll find a few along the way.
