For a template on what to do at the end of a close game please review the NDSU game tape...
Watch what they do.
You mean stick the ball on the rim while shooting free throws?

Maybe not so much what NDSU did, but what SDSU didn't do that night.
We we back and forth and just didn't end the game even up. Nice to know we can hang with the top though. Tourney could get exiting. Tough to beat a good team the third time right?
Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to an opposing player, so I'll go put on a cap and tip it to Jonathon Jones. Every time we had momentum he'd step up and hit an incredibly difficult shot. Just an amazing player who I'll be happy to see graduate... though I do want to see him play one more time against the Jacks.

Like Nagy said tonight, last years team loses by 25 tonight. We're there, we're close, we just need to take the next step.
I think starting next year is going to be our next big step, a real breakout year. The Summit loses some great players and we return and add some real good ones.
Kampe: (Speaking of SDSU in March in SF) "Are they going to be a tough out? Oh my God ya, this league has four great teams. The semi-finals will be the best this league has seen in 10 years".
Sorry, should have included a wink in my post as I meant it tongue in cheek. Not trying to call anyone out or be snarky in an unfriendly way, just talking shop after a game.
Although tonight at least, the strategy employed by the coaching staff worked out about as well as any other would have. In fact, eerily similar to the NDSU game with roles reversed. Shooting 2 down by four, make first. All Clint had to do was stick the second free throw on the rim (assuming the possession arrow was in our favor), Garrett hits a 3, and kazaam overtime.
IMO, when down by 4 with less than a minute to go, you have to play perfectly on both ends and the other team needs to make a mistake like missing free throws (see NDSU game). Its kind of a pick your poison at that point, and you hope the ball bounces your way. It would be interesting to know how many teams down by less than 5 with a minute to go have ever won a DI basketball game. I would guess it is somewhere in the 20-30% range.
It isn't like NDSU has a magic formula for winning close games. NDSU lost to IPFW by 4 tonight.

Just got back home from the OU game. Yes Kampe is a primadonna. Didnt recognize him at first with his hair all cut off, but after a dumb play by an OU player I could see why. He was yanking and pulling at what was left and letting his player have it. The refs, I think they only saw blue in the first half, second was better but only because they had to call some on OU because they were getting rougher in the second after getting away with it in the first. Jacks were really physical on Benson and kept him from scoring, some of his fouls in the second were more frustration than anything yea he scored but not like he wanted to. Eckles could not keep up with Palarca on the full court press. Better refeereing and less turnovers and the Jacks could have had this.
