      I think a stat of Andy's that is worth mentioning is that he has only 12 turnovers in 293 minutes for a 0.6 tpg.

      All of his percentages are way too low for what they should be, and the only reason I can think why is because he never plays for than 2 or 3 minutes at a time. It's hard to get into the grove and be a consistant shooter when only play in two or three minute spurts.

      Andy will be getting more playing time because of the two suspensions and I think he will gain some confidence and you'll see those shooting percentages rise to where they should be.

        True but he only has 9 Assts. in 293 min for a 0.47 Asst. per game. His Asst. to TO ration is 0.8 which is better then Frias but worse then Cadwell, Heien, and Casey.

          Re: Nagy is a great coach!

          Posts like this are crap. You're privy to some information before the rest of us so you lead us on hoping to gather some ammo for your retort when the info is made public. You then well-up with pride at how we all got "burned". Its petty.

          I suggest you sit down with Fred and Coach Nagy and scold them like you do here. Then, suggest what you think is right and offer to be accountable for the results.

          Why is it acceptable for you to criticize the personalities of Coach Nagy and Dr. Oien but not acceptable for others to be critical of Andy's play on the court? No one is critical of Andy as a person.

          I'm not expecting anything different from SF_Rabbit but be aware that your game is an old and ineffective one.

          Grant me the serenity
          to accept the things I cannot change;
          the courage to change the things I can;
          and the wisdom to know the difference.
          Posts like THIS are crap. I got a good laugh out of it though. What is everyone getting into a tiff about. Some of us question Andy's skills as a basketball player... Some of us question Nagy's and Oien's leadership...

          So what? It seems PETTY and stupid getting all worked up about it. Simply, agree to disagree.

            What was his FG percentage, I couldn't find the stats on that site, thanks.

              I'm not worked up, petty or stupid. I am a supporter of SDSU, Coach Nagy, Dr. Oien, Andy and all the athletes, students and alums of SDSU.

              I think I can call crap, crap without being petty or stupid.

              Petty and stupid, somedays I wish I had the time to be both or either of those.

                Sorry, I am new at this but was wondering how Andy Kleinjan got to be the topic on the thread 'Nagy is a great coach'. Kleinjan is but one player out of hundreds (?) that Coach Nagy has worked with. Why is everyone singling him out?

                  Re: Nagy is a great coach!

                  Troy Boomsma averaged 29._ points/game as a teamate of mine my senior year in high school and barely lasted 1 year at DWU. Sometimes when they get to college the chips don't fall the way everyone thought. Something doesn't click, etc.

                  I know Andy battled a foot problem for the last couple of years. There are many ways an injury can affect someone both mentally and physically in the field of athletics, espcially D1 athletics. Some people play all future games playing "not to get hurt". For a basketball player who has to rely on rhythm and repetition in shooting an injury can have severe repercussions on a shot and a shooter's confidence. Someone with a beautiful stroke, may have it tweaked with bad habits from weeks of shooting with a boot on your foot, etc. All of a sudden your elbow's flying out on your shot or your release has moved or you're shooting more in front of your face than you used too, whatever. Those bad habits are hard to break. Foot injuries also tend to have a negative influence on the most important things like quickness, speed and agility.

                  I know Andy as well as I know the rest of the athletes on this year's basketball program - not at all. But I've heard from family members, coaches, etc. that he's a really nice kid who was a heck of a high school player. Having said that, maybe things haven't started clicking for him yet for whatever reason. There were plenty of guys I played with who were on SDSU's recruiting page when Feb 1 rolled around who barely lasted a couple of seasons and some who never could get it with 5 years of participation. He may be one of those guys. However, he has just as good of a chance to be one of those guys who ends up "getting it" when he's a senior and puts up 10-12 points/game. We never know.

                  I do know one thing for sure. In the grand scheme of reasons why we have 6 wins this season, Andy's play has probably >2% affect on the outcome. I guess that makes me wonder why everyone is so hung up on a nice kid who's doing his best? And why I just wrote 300 words about him?

                        I was using Andy as an example on Nagy's coaching style, no of us know everything, but I was comparing what I heard about his situation and compared it to what I knew a few years ago. Just my humble opinion.

                        Not sure why on other threads he's been singled out, because I agree, one player isn't the cause of the sub par season and also agree he hasn't played enough minutes to even begin to comment on his play.

                              I found this quote from the Collegian article interesting,

                              "The protection orders were served on Jan. 31, after the team returned from a weeklong road trip."

                              Looks like the administration and Coach Nagy took the appropriate action at the appropriate time.
