    Re: Next Year

    Hey JimmyJack:

Could you get TV to wear a green polo so that his shirt disappears into the chroma key turning him into a floating head?

    That would be totally cool.

    Re: TV studio

If anything SDSU's not getting enough use out of it. IMO SDSU could put together a program as good as Market to Market if enough funds could be found to sponsor it on an ongoing basis. SDSU needs to stop saying 'we can't afford' this or that and needs to start saying, 'how do we afford' this or that....

Regarding the failure of coaches shows to appear on gojacks.com, that's my fault. I am a professor and I teach about 300 students every semester. I also produce and edit the coaches shows (and game rebroadcasts) on my own time. Add in the odd extra project (I put together a highlight video that was shown on the video board for the NCAA event this week, for example) and I've simply run out of time pretty much every week this year. It's all I can do to get 5 or 6 hours of TV ready for Mediacom and Midcontinent every week while I'm also teaching a full load of classes and doing all the other things professors do. Re-encoding and uploading the coaches shows to gojacks.com is another two or three hours of work that I just don't have time for.

The good news: Next year, actual professional television producers in Pugsley Studio will be taking on the entire production of all four coaches shows, including encoding the shows for gojacks.com and uploading them. Those guys (Lowell, Brian, and Randy, along with a bunch of journalism and mass communication students) do a fantastic job and the Pugsley facility and its staff are underutilized and under-appreciated gems on our campus. I'm very happy that they'll be doing the shows. The productions will be better and will be available in a more timely fashion because they won't rely on an over-stressed professor to produce them.

In my opinion, the Pugsley Studio should be a key part of the university's media-production future, but there are those on campus who see it only as an expense and don't see the utility there. I hope as many of you as possible will mention those coaches shows to as many people as you can on and off-campus. We need the powers-that-be to understand the value of the Pugsley television studio to the athletic department and to the rest of the university. If we lose that facility, the coaches shows will go away, and that would be a major step backwards for SDSU. Believe me, I know a lot of universities (like NDSU, for example) that would LOVE to have an on-campus TV production facility to promote academics and athletics. We do, and it has to stay put.

        [/end rant]
I'll just boil this down: if you want to see the coaches' shows in a timely manner, send enough $ to SDSU so that they can hire an in-house video producer, and so that the Pugsley facility remains open and available.

Somebody's gonna have to pay for it, and that somebody is we Jackrabbit fans.

Has anyone heard how James Radar looked this year in practice? Watching him shoot in pregame warmups at Frost he could shoot the ball well.

              It's Rader. FYI.

Coach Nagy said he's a really good shooter and moves well for his size. I might add that I have met him and he's a smart, quality young man. I think we can expect him to give the team all he's got.

                SF-White (6'7 JR).................Cassaday (6'6 rSR)
                PF-Fiegen (6'7 JR)................??????????????????.....Pederson (6'8 rSR)
                PF-??????.............................??????????????? ???

Depending on the development of the younger guys, this could be a real good and athletic team with solid depth in a couple years. Of course adding a big or two this year and next, not to mention continuing to recruit talent is essential. Nagy has to feel as good currently about his program as he has in a long time.

                  From today's Argus:

                  http://www.argusleader.com/article/2...32/1002/sports

"The status of 6-foot-10 junior college transfer Anthony Davis, ... remains unclear. Nagy, who will sit down with Davis and some doctors sometime after the Final Four, has been exploring options ...It's possible that Davis will never play again...."

I should have let this thread die but I was looking at next year and thought this was way off.
We were 7-11 in conference and I think we'll be around 13-5 next year.
Southern Utah(2-0)- They lost 4 of their top 5 players.
Western Illinois(2-0)- They lost their best 2 players(DuBois and Rivers).
UMKC(2-0)- Still just the better team.
Centenary(2-0)- They lost Stallings and Hill.
NDSU(2-0)- They lost 75% of their team. Three of their top 4 players are gone. (1-1 at worst)!
IUPUI(1-1)- Just based on last year. (This could be 2-0 if NDSU goes 1-1).
                    IPFW(1-1)- At worst!
Oral Roberts(1-1)- No Jarvis and Lewis.
Oakland(0-2)- SDSU could win at least 1 game against them. They lost by 5 on the road and in OT at home to them during the regular season.
Some of these might be a little off but that would be 6 less loses than last year in conference. Are we really going to lose many more games outside of conference?

                      Re: Next Year

I think 2009/2010 is the first year in DI where we have the combination of depth, size and experience to compete and at times dominate weaker opponents.

I'm saying we go 17-1 in conference play.

As nice as the recruiting classes are we still haven't answered our questions at the point and our need for an experienced post. If we add a JC Post I would feel much better.

I am starting to get excited, but have burnt the last couple of years and don't want that to happen again. I would be VERY happy with a 500 season. Just not 20 losses again.

Oakland and Oral Roberts are the only 2 teams that I don't know if we can go 2-0 against. I guess I'm going on the side with caution. I like being pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed.

                                From TV's blog today.

Here's one list that the SDSU men's basketball team is glad not to be a part of. According to FoxSports.com, UMKC will lose three more players to transfer (James Humphrey, Femi Akinpetide and Fred Ford), while Southern Utah (Jake Nielsen) and Oakland (Matt Samuels) will each lose one.
