    Re: Next Year

Nagy has also said he wants to build the program the right way, by red-shirting his freshman. I hope he follows this plan.
I just don't see Fiegen being ready, unless he really beefs up all of the sudden this summer. Carlson is already redshirting I believe. Is White good enough to help right away? I guess that depends on the development of Griff Callahan, Moss and others.

I'm not disagreeing with this but the team will be deeper next year. Even if Davis doesn't play, they have Griffen for the whole year and Radar coming in to play. I don't know if Pederson will play but that could be another option. He'll(or Tivist) probably play as much as Mac did this year so the team will be adding 1 1/2 players without Davis(Felt), White, Feigen or Carlson. This isn't including Cassaday. Will he play more next year? I think they'll redshirt at least 2 of the freshmen unless they're ready to play around 10-15 minutes right away. This will be the deepest team SDSU's had since the transition.

They'll redshirt Carlson for sure and if they go out and get a guard they may redshirt him also..... Feigen and White are the wild cards, I haven't seen Feigen since his sophomore year and I haven't seen White since his injury..... I plan on seeing them Friday so I'll tell you what I see there..... I think it will depend on if they are ready, people including myself look back and say Dale Moss probably should of had a redshirt year.... So I think it will be on if they are ready, most people believe that you use a redshirt to get them ready not if they will play or not, now in some years that just doesn't work but I think next year it will work..... So that's my believe, if they can play (not if they will) they won't be redshirted, if they need some development they will redshirt.....

          Re: Next Year

If the incoming freshman can contribute they will play. They owe it to the Seniors to put the best team on the floor possible. The Coaches may also be playing for their jobs so doubt they will hold back a player who can help them win more games.

            Re: Next Year

The best players have to play. Also, as mentioned parent told me Davis is not coming back. If we don't replace him we will have another 20 loss season. We need another JC big either way.

That is good news. Big guys are hard to come by, and Davis supposedly is a good one. I remember AC praising him.

All due respect, I think he wants to come back and plans to come back, but from how it sounds, noone knows if he CAN comeback, or be 100%.

Yup. We shot the last Nagy Show of the year yesterday, and coach said that Fiegen and White will play next year. He mentioned specifically that they've considered playing White at the point guard spot next year. "Quite frankly, we expect both of them to play for us quite a bit next year."
                      Holy nutmeg!

So we don't lose anybody but every major contributor has another offseason to improve and we add Fiegen, White, Radar, Pederson and possibly Davis to the rotation. Anyone else getting excited yet?

Can we assume he was asked about Anthony Davis? A better question might be; when do you think this will get posted on GoJacks.com ?

Good point. Regardless of whether Anthony Davis will be physically able to play extensively or effectively, I assume SDSU will honor his scholarship. So we'll have to hope that he's able to provide some good minutes next season or maybe the year after.

No. Coach Nagy can't talk about players' injuries. That's a FERPA violation. The athletic department has gotten much more careful about that. Coach has said Davis is hopeful that he'll play. That's about all he can say, legally.

Regarding the failure of coaches shows to appear on gojacks.com, that's my fault. I am a professor and I teach about 300 students every semester. I also produce and edit the coaches shows (and game rebroadcasts) on my own time. Add in the odd extra project (I put together a highlight video that was shown on the video board for the NCAA event this week, for example) and I've simply run out of time pretty much every week this year. It's all I can do to get 5 or 6 hours of TV ready for Mediacom and Midcontinent every week while I'm also teaching a full load of classes and doing all the other things professors do. Re-encoding and uploading the coaches shows to gojacks.com is another two or three hours of work that I just don't have time for.

The good news: Next year, actual professional television producers in Pugsley Studio will be taking on the entire production of all four coaches shows, including encoding the shows for gojacks.com and uploading them. Those guys (Lowell, Brian, and Randy, along with a bunch of journalism and mass communication students) do a fantastic job and the Pugsley facility and its staff are underutilized and under-appreciated gems on our campus. I'm very happy that they'll be doing the shows. The productions will be better and will be available in a more timely fashion because they won't rely on an over-stressed professor to produce them.

In my opinion, the Pugsley Studio should be a key part of the university's media-production future, but there are those on campus who see it only as an expense and don't see the utility there. I hope as many of you as possible will mention those coaches shows to as many people as you can on and off-campus. We need the powers-that-be to understand the value of the Pugsley television studio to the athletic department and to the rest of the university. If we lose that facility, the coaches shows will go away, and that would be a major step backwards for SDSU. Believe me, I know a lot of universities (like NDSU, for example) that would LOVE to have an on-campus TV production facility to promote academics and athletics. We do, and it has to stay put.

                              [/end rant]

That's no rant...that's just the facts and I'm glad JJ brought that up. I am one who was not aware the TV production facility may be in jeopardy.
Let's all start bending and twisting ears and arms and see if we can achieve an attitude change on the production facility.

Thanks, JimmyJack, for bringing out the facts.
