A year ago people would have killed for us to have been able to compete like this on the road. Now people are pissed when we lose on a half court hail mary at the buzzer. We are improving, people need to realize that, we can't have everything at one time.

Take a look at where we have come from......things aren't so bad.

That is why I can chuckle at this loss......we had them, but they made a desperation shot to beat us....it happens nothing we can do about it now.

These are the words I was searching for last night in order to make reasonal post about the game. I want our guys to make the Summit Tourney, but they have to earn their way into the brackets. All the handringing in the world will not change my personal conclusion.
If we can regroup and play as a team for 40 minutes, we will be in the tourney.

You get tired of hearing this? Well I get tired of the same excuses in the postgame too. Why are we so young? Is it the recruiting? Why don't we have the confidence? Why don't the "end of game scenarios" and drills get thru? What have we done in other sports areas that are succeeding? Why is this the athletic area where we struggle so much? Answer a couple of these questions and we can have a legitimate discussion.

I do to and I would be surprised if Coach Nagy is not back. I think our new president (Chicoine) recognizes progress, and he probably has more to say about Coach Nagy's future than does the new AD.

Nagy will be the coach next year...period. I always blamed the bad play by the Vikings on Denny Green, whom I did not like. So I understand the position of some posters on here. But...you only have to say it a couple of times and then it becomes "old news". Because I believe that is true, this will be my last post saying Nagy will be the MBB coach at SDSU next year.

                  I feel your pain X 2

Last night Jamal's team lost by 1 point in a 3 point shot with 6 secs on the clock , this game was the second night game they play Friday and Jamal's team won by 1 point that night, If they had won that game last night they would have a final game at home to win their division.......Jamal had 16 points 12 boards and 5 assist's and played his ass off....IT HURTS.............

Coach Nagy will return as the Jacks coach next year and into our future. It will be interesting when our new athletic director comes on board and his or her thoughts.

Are we getting better? Absolutely! These late loses do however bother me. Would rather lose by double digits than last second scores. I believe we will make the summit league tournament as well. But we won't go far because of our seating. Lets circle than wagons and support the men as they are clearly playing their hearts out. If you look at the summit league stats you can see our young players are excelling. As of last week stats that might interest all of us.

Which JR in the Summit league leads all other JR's in scoring? If you guessed Garret you are correct.

Which SO in the Summit league leads all other SO's in scoring? If you guessed Clint your again correct. AC is the 3rd leading scorer in the SO class.

Which JR leads the Summit League in rebounds? If you guessed Kai you are correct. AC is second among the SO class and the 5th leading rebounder in the league.

Garret and AC are amoung the leaders in FG%. Garret and Clint are amoung the leaders in FT%. Garret in amoung the leaders for 3 pt FG%. Clint and Garret are #3 & #4 for 3 pt FG's made

Kai and AC are amoung the leaders for both offensive and deffensive rebounds. I could go on.

The Summit Tournament is a real possiblity this year. But, our young Jacks will be amoung the conference favorites next year. Hang in their Jacks.

All great stats, and I think the team could be great.

What we need is all of those players listed above WANT to be listed as the top defenders in the league! This team can win games and a lot of them in my opinion. That will happen when they decide they want to be the best defensive team in the league.

I think Jacks fans are forgetting that last year there was hardly a reason to even watch the last 5 minutes of the basketball game because of the score differential. Now at least, we have reason to watch most of the games down to the last shot, even if the ending sometimes makes us want to projectile vomit. But hey, I'll take that sick feeling that comes with losing on a last second shot any day over the melancholia that comes with losing by 30 and waiting for the clock to run out.
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.

Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

Some thoughts on this and other posts on this topic.

                            Overall, do you believe?

                            1. The players are still playing hard, for a goal.
                            2. Jacks are not even close to having to play football players - and thank goodness they stepped up when they did - to fill a roster and finish out a season and get to the next one.
                            3. This remains a young team and the strength is in players that will be here one, two, and three years.
                            4. Strong players, including some of the state's top players, are coming into the program.
                            5. Jacks have been competitive in virtually every game except for two or three.
                            6. It is still possible to call this season a success.
                            7. The coach has not given up on the players, and the players on the coach.
                            8. There have been moments, good moments, that hint of even brighter things to come.

If you answer affirmatively to all eight posts - and it is possible to do so - it kind of puts things into perspective.

Two disappointing losses yesterday for us. Conlan lost the 1st game in the Sweet Sixteen in the state tournament. He has a group of good ball players but a couple of them were nervous. It was hard to loose for them. They had beat 2 very good teams, 1 game coming from 15 down and they won on a free throw by Conlan. But with confidence he said, We'll be back."
We then went to the Western game. Our team was pumped and ready to play. I did not see this at IUPUI they looked tired. The basketball teams from Seneca came along with about 100 people from town. It made Garrett and Griffan's night. The team played to win. They fought hard. They did what they could to stop their runs. They gave it their all, and when that last shot went in, the look on their faces was hurt and disappointment. I looked around and none of us could believe it. They want these games so bad. They will come. They are talking more to one another on the court, and supporting one another more. I have never stopped believing in them. We will make it to Souix Falls and we will surprise people. Let's all stand behind them and give them a lift when they need it! Sometimes it is easier to knock someone down, then to give them a pat on the back. Sometimes that is all that is needed. The Jackrabbits are here to stay and they are not going away!!!

great posts. Its amazing to me how fast expectations swing around here. Two months ago people were just hoping for an 8th place conference finish. Two weeks ago people were expecting possibly a 4th or 5th place finish. Its important to keep things in perspective and I feel that some of the posts above this do a great job of doing that. I am not suggesting that people shouldn't be frustrated when the team loses games they should win, but just keep it in perspective folks. Lets just not keep posting in this thread until Thursday night.
