  • Re: Western Illinois at Macomb

This team has made great strides so far this year and that doesn't always come through in the record. There is a lot of season left and like I said earlier, I think we learn more about these kids in the next five games then we have all season long.

Obviously, not everyone is going to agree which is fine. IMO the coaching staff should get a tip of the hat for what they have accomplished. There has been a marked improvement on the court this year. Coach Klinkefus is getting the recruits that we need to get. Some people talk about adjusting to D-1 or changing styles of recruiting, etc. I don't know about all that stuff but it sure seems like we are on the right path. We all grow as a result of the experiences we are subjected to you and my assesment is that Coach Nagy has grown as a coach as well. If the staff could be given a two-year contract as a vote of confidence it would be my vote to do so but that isn't a possibility.

It would be a real shame if the next AD or Dr. Chicoine didn't give Nagy and the staff the opportunity to see this thing all the way through. We would almost certainly lose recruits and set the program back another few years. One of the biggest strengths of our Athletic Department is the longevity of the people on staff. It just works and I hope that trand continued when we look for the next AD and when it comes to decisions on all personell changes. To go away from that would be to turn away from what has been a succesful formula not just through transition but for decades.

Let's just all come out and support this team and help them get the last few wins they need to get into the tournament and make all of this conjecture a moot point!

One thing we all agree on is GB, GB, GJ!

Here's my $0.02: Coaches get too much credit when a team wins and gets too much blame when a team loses.

Everyone says that the guys have improved from last year and while I didn't watch them play last year, that makes a lot of sense. They have improved even from before break. They are much better now than they were at the beginning of the season, and since most of the studs are Jr's and So's it makes sense that they would be even better next year.

No doubt. But personally having watched this transition unfold, I'm prepared to give Coach Nagy a ton of credit for getting this thing turned around and heading in the right direction.

People forget that the cupboard was pretty bare to begin with when the transition started (we had just lost a whole bunch of seniors, including a couple of sixth-year guys). Then the bad things started to happen. Now, just a couple of years later, he's got us competing night-in and night-out in the Summit. Most everybody agrees we're close. Can there be any doubt that it's Coach Nagy who has gotten us there? I think he deserves a lot of credit for adjusting and working this program into shape through some pretty dark moments.

Is it frustrating at times? Of course it is. But that shouldn't overshadow the progress that is being made and I want Coach Nagy to get his fair share of the credit.
        Holy nutmeg!

Top teams this year are senior laden, and lower level teams are more underclassmen. I like our situation for next year, and they have grown a lot this year.

Was out of town and catching up on this thread. Noticed you mentioned Shiner Bock...Great Choice! Did you bring it back or find another way to get it? I looked one time and they actually ship as far as Omaha to a couple grocery stores and bars. If there's a way to get some in SD, let me know!

They sold Shiner Bock in Rochester, MN back in 2005 and 2006. I'm not sure if they still get it or not. I haven't been back to Rochester in 2 1/2 years. Agreed, excellent beer.

Shiner Bock is sold in Minneapolis and my son brought in a box of 12 for the Oakland U and Superbowl weekend.

Shiner Bock appears to be the new Coors. You can't it everywhere, so it must be special!!

Yeah . . . I don't think we need to keep being reminded of this game.

Y'all go create a beer thread in the Lounge section or something, cause this here watering hole is closing down . . .
