    We have wins against: Mayville State - DII
    Upper Iowa - DII ?
    Central Arkansas - 315 RPI
    Centenary - 313 RPI

    And losses to: Denver - 312 RPI
    UIU= Bad NSIC D2 team.
    Mayville= Tied for last in the DAC-- that's as in NAIA.

      Through Dec 14th RPI for SDSU is 320. Also it shows the record as 2-7 as the UIU and Mayville wins are not counted. So does not look good for SDSU at this point.

        Ryan Miller may be the top pick in your mind, but I think a selection committee and others connected to SDSU are not about to just turn over the keys of BB office to Ryan Miller without talking to him in great depth.

        Beside, I believe Nagy still has a contract with SDSU enforce as we post. If SDSU breaches a contract, you expect a law suit. Just ask the lawyers on this board. If you got the money we could of course buy Nagy's contract.

        No connections, just speculation. Are there any other local candidates or from the midwest?

            If we keep losing to Denver (and I'm not talking about the Nuggets) and Division 2 teams (southwest mn) then yes we do need some candidates.

            I heard someone mentions Paul Sather(Black Hills) earlier--he'd probably be pretty good. There's also Hemingway from DWU and who coaches Southwest Mn State?--they were good enough to beat a Division 1 team on the road.

                    Maybe you can tell us about what the AD did about C.A. "Jack" West back in 1925 when he went 3-17?

                        I was not going to respond to this challenge by jackguyii but I do a great deal of reading especially about SDSU past in terms of athletics. One item I spent time reading a few years back was a Master thesis by Jim Vacura, who by the way was one of Ralph Ginn's better football players. There were many. Jim did his thesis on History of football at SDSU about 1962, which might suggest digression, but the point is pertinent to this thread since it involves a coaching change. CA West, did not go 3-17 ever in any sport, but SDSU probably would not be where it is today without his good coaching and developement of programs in the 1920's. His football teams were very good and we beat UND a number of times, and finally a group of UND boosters came to Brookings and offered CA West $3,000 in annual salary to come to UND. Even back then Main Street of Brookings was financially supportive of SDSU athletics, but maybe not tailgating, (a pun intended) and could not raise the funds to match the offer from UND. Hence CA West moved on to Grand Forks and UND won several NCC football titles in the 1930's and he is also associated with the institution of the logo "The Fighting Sioux."
                        It may not have been West's idea, but it was instituted on his watch as an AD at UND. This thesis I reference is on file at Hilton Briggs library.

                        Although a good coach will win, there are no guarantees that they will not seek better opportunities. Perhaps we should not be worried about getting rid of losing coaches when good one's can be hired away. Hmmm, I believe AJ Johnston comes to mind.
