Re: Summit League Tournament Tickets On Sale Thursday

Well, there's potential for collateral damage with any plan. I guess the real question is how bad do you want to see a game or two?

Well, what's easier / less risky? That, or "I'm going to work in the basement for a while..." and sneaking out the back door. Maybe a thread for tips from those experienced fellers with success and failure war stories.

Re: Summit League Tournament Tickets On Sale Thursday

When the number of kids starts to multiply, you can always take in a game if you offer to take one of the lil ones with you. Went to several Brewers games this year with my 5 year old. In the past 3 seasons, she and I have been paired up for approx 80% of the games I've attended.

Also works if you have a big game coming up that you want to attend but can't take one of the kids except you have to do it in advance. Take all kids (2 in my case) and head out for errands and a stop at McDonald's and Toys R Us - whatever it takes to get them out of the house for 2-3 hours. Wife is rejuvinated and you get to attend next night's game guilt free becausee she had her time. Also, on the occasional evening, offer to handle all bed-time duties and let her watch "Grey's Anatomy" or whatever. That pays off the next time you have a "must watch" game on TV that coincides with bed-time for the kids.

As for when wife is pregnant, having the mother-in-law is a must. That and offerering to change the diaper in the middle of the night when baby wakes up for a feeding. Only requires a 5 minute time committment because you can't feed the little bugger anyway. You look like a saint because you got your butt out of bed and you're back to sleep in less than 10 mins. Change diaper, hand to mom, give kiss on the head of both, back to bed for sleep.

The taking the kids along works well with me. Except when the little buggers don't want to go then I get the well that does it, go and make her mad or stay and be mad myself. Now I tell the kids that they are going to attend SDSU when they go to college so they better go to the game. Which here in Michigan aint to many times a year, unfortunately.
Luckily they like road trips so it looks like Indiana State might be in play.
Anyone going let me know where the hotel to stay and party arrangements are.

Telling the kids that they are attending SDSU is an absolute must, and don't back off when they get older. Now that my son is a freshman at SDSU I can always use the excuse that I need to go visit him to justify driving 800 miles on weekends when there is a home game. My daughter always planned on attending SDSU but then University X got hold of her and she ended up there. Using my weekends off and driving lots of miles to go there was not quite as much fun as Beef Bowl and Hobo Day weekends this year.

Re: Summit League Tournament Tickets On Sale Thursday

I was so pleased to see a similair update in the Argus Leader today. I was wondering how the ticket sales are going, considering that single ticket sales don't begin until January, that 2200 is a huge number. A lot of how the success of the tournament in Sioux Falls will be judged will depend not just on how many tickets are sold, but how many people support the games that SDSU and NDSU are not involved in.

The league as a whole will be more apt to support the tournament being held here beyond the 2009-2010 booking if there is a general support of the tournament, and not only a huge home crowd for SDSU and NDSU. Now this is not to say I am not looking forward to having the Jackrabbit home crowd cheering on the teams as they play. I definately am, but I also want our fans to support the other teams as well.

After all, it is true that this is a first for South Dakota and we as fans need to show that we can support this type of event. I have my lower level seats and am planning on being there for the majority of the games in this tournament.
