Bassett to Casey to Troy Wipf to Casey to Bassett...short on a three, Wipf steals the ball from MN rebound, Bassett shot blocked from behind...MN 3 on 2...

Anyone know why Engen isn't playing at all tonight? He had a good game against Denver...

Damn, I missed that subtle part, sometimes I'm more like the donkey's ass than his footsteps.  That said, its all in passion for SDSU, especially men's BB.  I was at Williams last year and I'm kind of glad I wasn't there this year.  Selfish on my part, I know, I am what I am.

Its on to Montana now.  I'll be listening, maybe not posting, as my in-laws still have a dial-up modem.

I'm with you there, JackJD. The Jacks played well for the first ten minutes, with few turnovers and good rebounding to go with good shooting. It's not like Minnesota wasn't playing well at first, shooting more than 50 percent. By taking care of the ball and rebounding well, we built a 6 point lead. I think the rest was largely inexperience. Minnesota counterpunched and knocked our young team off their game.

I'm going to grasp onto that look ahead. This is a very young team with some real talent. We have to be patient. It's tough, but we all knew it'd be another start from scratch deal this year.

                    Nagy post-game on WNAX:
Unbelievable but seems our players got a little overconfident (at the start)
                    ...
our progress...like someone spinning a yo-yo while going up steps...eventually we'll get up there (editorial comment: needs new analogy but I think I know what he means)

Couldn't play Mark tonight...hurt ankle in shoot around, not even sure what he did...can't even walk...6-6 was our biggest guy in there

Nagy gives credit to MN for bouncing back, playing well after losing in double OT the other night.

We made a lot of poor decisions tonight (getting 3 pt shots blocked: poor shot)...coaches too (preparing team and during the game)

Lot of things on our kids' minds(reference to finals etc.)

                          Nagy
It's unbelievable that this could happen, but our players got overconfident. We completely forgot about what we work on in practice and started playing one-on-one basketball. I told our players that our progress is like someone spinning a yo-yo and going up steps--this is the first game where we really didn't give a pretty good effort but I believe we're still on an upswing. We're getting ready to play a team that beat this team.

It really hurt us that we couldn't play Mark tonight, he did something to his ankle, we don't know what. It was difficult for us to stop anything at the basket and that's why they shot so well.

The way we played tonight, we weren't very good. I think you have to give Minnesota some credit for really bouncing back tonight.

They're very good defensively, they pack it in, and they're long. I don't know how many 3-point shots we had blocked, we made a lot of poor decisions tonight. I told the kids that the blame is with the coaches, we didn't prepare them very well.

Honestly, my biggest concern is that finals start the day after the Montana game. If it goes into overtime, we may not make the flight--it's important our guys get back to take finals on Monday.

Listening to post-game on WCCO.  Stats surprisingly close: rebounds, turnovers...but not shooting percentages.

I still think this Jackrabbit team is going to suddenly put together an entire half like the first 10 minutes of this game.  And then, they'll put together 3/4ths of a game and then an entire game.

That has to be the thread we all have to hold on to JD.  It happened with the FB team who wasn't as young and did have some leaders.  First it was a few bright spots v Montana and then it was a bright half v UNI and then all hell broke loose.

Hopefully these coaches can keep their own and their player's heads on straight and the team will come through this.  Otherwise it will be a long haul for Jackrabbit BBall

Just got back from the game tonight, and wow, did that hurt to watch. Me and some of the other fans were feeling pretty good about the game until it appeared that we weren't going to be able to stop them on a single inside play for the whole night. What was the deal with Engen not playing? Its not exactly helpful for us to be playing our largest player at 6'6" on the inside. IMO we weren't even giving ourselves a chance to win nobody on the inside like that. Don't get me wrong, Loney and Basset did their best, but we aren't going to win with Kleinjan matched up against a 6'7 guy, and a 6'6 center matched on a 6'9 guy. I hope scholies are used on JUCO PF's for next season. I really feel like if we can get an inside presence at all, we'll have a great team this year. Seeing NDSU play earlier, I really feel like thats the only difference, they have Andre Smith, who is a force inside, we've got 3's playing as 4's and 5's. I'm sure that Nagy already knows this and will work on getting it corrected for next season though. All part of building a team I guess.
