        THAT'S THE FINAL..

JACKRABBITS 79, UMKC ROOS 71 IN OVERTIME.

A VERY NICE GAME...THAT'S JACKRABBIT BASKETBALL!  What a second half and overtime!  Sounds like the boys played their hearts out and Nagy and his coaches made some great decisions

FTs are just not that tough. 8-8 in OT as a team. Young teams are inconsistent. Nice win for a young and shorthanded Jacks team.

Undefeated against the mid-con for the year.

Needed a win in the worst of ways. Great to get one over a future conference opponent.

Re: UMKC - - Hoops for the Holidays

                      NAGY INTERVIEW PARAPHRASED:
Probably best game those guys played all year and career high (scoring) for the year (for Callahan, Williams, Yackley).
In first half: some missed dunks and turnovers - imming.....nagy: nice to have the guys look at you and believe they could win a game...tonight, could look in their eyes and see it.

Imming: 7 pt lead then "poof" gone.. Nagy: I kinda got after them and they said Coach, we're okay, we're okay. The players felt real good about where they were. Believed they could win the game.

Imming: 66 all and no time outs.... Nagy: I had to take some time outs (earlier) to set up plays. Somebody needed to make a play and we froze a little but they gathered themselves ...

Early, man-to-man and they started to figure us out...so switched to zone and the kids did a great job (wee hadn't spent that much time with it).

How concerned down the stretch about the 'iron five' running out of gas? Didn't think about it. They knew we could win the game.

Made it more important that this is a Mid-Con opponent and we'll be back here every year.

FRIDAY: We hope to play this way in front of the home crowd. Concern: keeping minds on the game and not on going home and Christmas...some of the kids haven't been home (since school started).

Re: UMKC - - Hoops for the Holidays

As tough as this year has been...you could hear things during this game that leads one to think about how in a two and three years from now, the opposing coaches will be warning their teams about "veteran crew"; "experienced" "battle-hardened" "upperclassmen leadership" etc.

Kai Williams played the entire game...no break...  Wow.  Bet he lost 10 lbs in sweat.  What an effort.

                        Callahan developing as promised.

                        Jose Frias...six steals!

Time to look for final stats on the Athletic site.

Don't worry coach Kai is looking forward to getting home for Christmas but he is one focused young man and he wants to win all the time...he has been frustrated but he is very positive this IS GOING TO BE A GOOD TEAM.

I only got to hear the last few minutes and OT. Did Basset play tonight? Judging by the minutes played by Yackley, Williams, Callahan, Cadwell and Frias I would guess he didn't play too many minutes.
