Getting the issue aired (and then put aside) is better than letting speculation grow and fester. The program is stronger than a stray player or two, and odds are the addition of a couple of new guys will make the team better next year. In three years, after the transition is history, I hope that Coach Nagy and seniors Kai Williams, Garrett Callahan, Thomas Bassett, Blake Yackley and Mark Engen look back and smile about these little challenges as they celebrate a winning season.

Re: Cam Hornby
There is an article in the Argus Leader today that announces that Hornby has left the team. Nagy had a few quotes in there.
I tried to find it online and put it here but couldn't locate it! So, I've typed the article below.
Hornby leaves SDSU program
Redshirt freshman guard Cam Hornby has left the South Dakota State men's basketball team.
Jackrabbits coach Scott Nagy said that the 6-footer from Winnepeg, Manitoba wanted more playing time. Hornby apeared in four games, averaging 1.0 points, 1.0 rebounds and 7.5 minutes.
"It's very disappointing," Nagy said. "You invest time in him and he was a part of our program. Really, what was hard for Cam, normally freshmen don't play and you have upper classmen playing in front of you and it's easier (to accept). But when you have freshmen playing in front of you, it's tougher.
Hornby, who is still attending classes at SDSU, is the second player to leave the team this season. Junior transfer Mario Brandon did so for family reasons before the season began.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The article appears on page 3C of the Tuesday Argus Leader in the Regional Digest section. I typed it in exactly as it appears on the page, complete with typos and everything.
SUPERBUNNYMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, BIZUN!!!

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of losing players with the Kansas reference there. Who thinks they get out of the first round in the tournament this year?

How many 20-win seasons and tournament appearances has Kansas made under Bill Self? Sure, we want to be the next Bradley or Bucknell in the tournament. But Kansas is still an elite college basketball program. My point is even programs at the top lose kids every year. It's part of college basketball. "You play with the players you have, not the players you wish you had" (to paraphrase a soon-to-be-former Secretary of Defense)."I think we'll be OK"

Re: Cam Hornby
When a new coach, ie Bill Self taking over Roy Williams' Jayhawks, it is common to lose a few players.
We can't just close our eyes and tell ourselves that our alma mater hasn't lost an inordinate amount of players the last few years whether it is because of criminal charges, lack of playing time or whatever the reason is. We have and we now have a glut of freshmen on our team. Ideally a team would have an equal scholarship application between the classes.

Re: Cam Hornby
In an attempt to help solve a few depth issues, Coach Nagy once again asked Coach Stig for some help from the football team.... Unlike last year, the footballers decided to stay focused on the gridiron and turn down the offer. I am going to go ahead and agree with their decisions!
