EEK. Sounds like theres more movement possible. On the other side of things, Nagy commented today how much better this team has been/is then that last few.

Oops. Didn't see the plea to stop posting on this thread before my last post. Just for the record, this was never intended to be a Nagy-bashing thread. I, too, have confidence that he will turn things around. I'm big fan of the coach. However, I see anything wrong with fans discussing players of uncertain status. I'd be more concerned about apathy setting in among fans than about a critical comments on a discussion board. We're fans who support and care about the program. Most of us, anyway.

It seems to me that, however it was intended, this has turned into an opportunity to question Coach Nagy because there is no mention of names. (nor should there be) It just causes people to speculate on who will be the one(s) who might leave and starts rumors. What part of this discussion is productive? To compare Coach Nagy to Coach Self is apples and oranges. If you wonder about kids leaving it needs to be compared to other programs who made the move from D-II to D-I. Obviously there are players who leave D-I schools all the time for various reasons. How else does USD end up with one or more transfers on their team each season. How many of USD's players will want to leave so they can compete for conference/national championships? STOP this thread!

Is there some sort of fear about admitting that there are some problems? No one else feels that the men's program has struggled a bit more than expected? Was I suppose to expect this level of attrition? I think disappointment is perfectily acceptable right now. It doesn't mean any lack of support, at least not for me.

I personally believe admitting that there are some problems is the first step towards turning things around. Let my clarify something, Nagy is not the problem, in fact he is likely going to be the key to the solution just as he was when he followed Soderberg and Thorson in the mid-90's. Heck, getting a player like Chris White alone turned things around in 1990.

Don't misinterpret appropriate concern as "bashing" or "negativity". Its just concern. Now, I'll also admit that I have been overly pessimistic recently, but thats a character flaw for me. I'll work on it.

nagy has also made some contact with other prospective prospects.  One on the baseball team, and one who isn't involved in any varsity athletics.
I heard he was down in S.F. recruiting intramurals to join at semester- I think it was the team with Ringling, Hajek and the 3rd man from Arlington last year sumptin like (moeller??). I heard he was in talks with Danny Fathke but Danny is also talking to Black Hills and DWU about joining next year.

Does anybody know if Bilitz will be rejoining the team after break?

This forum has always been about discussing the good and the bad. I too think Nagy will turn this around, but let's not pretend there are no issues confronting the program. I would rather see people discussing the progam and how it might improve rather than have total apathy like many other schools. I think most posters are here because they care about the Jacks and sometimes that means celabrating our successes and sometimes debating the negative.

I too have heard of at least another player transferring. Coach Nagy is not terribly happy with the intensity and focus of some players.

I don't understand why some don't want us discussing our concern for the Jacks. I take that as there is still fan interest in our team. I also take it as that we don't want to settle for a terrible team.

I understand some people's concerns with posting tidbit nuggets of information, but isn't that what an internet message board is for? So, the person who said another person is transferring...don't name names if you don't want to, but will this person finish out the year or just the semester?

I agree. Discussing the negatives that have occurred does not mean you do not support the team, coach, admin, etc. The idea that acknowledging the problem will continue it to occur seems to me as a little bit foolish.

Re: Basketball Personnel Discussion (was Cam Hornb

The problems in the past are just that . . . in the past.

As mentioned on the other thread, the biggest problem with this year's team is the lack of a serious inside presence. We've got plenty of guys who can play on the perimeter, but Bassett and Loney are just too small to be "the guy" on the inside, and Engen is still learning the trade. So teams can pretty much go inside with impunity against us, and we're hard-pressed to stop them when they do so. That's a recipe for losing a lot of games unless we either shoot ridiculously well from outside, or run into a Denver who can't hit the ocean with their shots.

We need to hope that Bilitz can come in at the semester break and contribute, and that Engen's ankle comes back quickly. Otherwise, the rest of the team needs to get better fast at getting free for and making lots of 3-pointers for us to be at all competitive.

I think the statement is that we hope the problems of the past are in the past.

Ditto that. I just love when people chime into a thread and basically say "Stop talking about this". I say don't read it. No one is forcing you.

There are so many things relating to the BB program that are out of our control, and maybe that is a good thing. I do recognize that men's bb was and has been a big revenue producer for the HPER budget and its also been a great sense of enjoyment for the fans. So at  a point in time the adminstration is going to have to take a very serious look and ask "Is the program making progress?" At that point the past becomes a very key matter in making a decision. I dont have a clue when that point in time will occur, but they have to measure progress somehow and act accordingly.

Until then I really do not feel it harmful  to comment. We to need share since this what this board is suppose to be about.  I dont see any harm in that. I am not part of the adminstration either, but can not control their actions either. The chips will fall where they may with or without me.
