I STILL love the Vault commercial ......."you want your kid to throw 50 yards!?...well give him 50 yards!!! as he bulldozed the fence with his riding mower.

Well, the guys made is respectable, and actually played really well the last 10 minutes of the half. Cordova has really looked good this half, dropped a trey and led a fast break.

                67-52 is the final.

On a somewhat positive note, Summit TV worked for pretty much the whole game. That would be the first time that I'm aware of.

                        Re: ORU at home

I think ORU is the most physical team in the league size wise and athletisim and it is no surprise in my mind why they are the league champion. They have 4 seniors and six juniors on the team. The big guys are not bean poles by any means and they appear to have spent more than their share of time in the weigth room. It was hard to get any momemntum going. Had some of the early shots dropped and some were were good shots, the game might have been different. ORU was not shooting that great, but often they got three or more rebounds to make a basket. That part could have been prevented, but it did not happen.

Our program has a long ways to go before we can stay in the game with ORU, let a lone beat them.

                          Re: ORU at home

Back from the game. I gotta say, the thread tonight looks worse than the game did.

We got beat tonight by a team that's stronger, more experienced, and more athletic. They're a good team. We are not. There's no dishonor in recognizing that, as long as it comes with a commitment to improve.

Our guys did battle hard, all game long. There were a bunch of moments when they could have packed it in. They never did. They were scrapping and clawing in the last minute every bit as much as they were all the rest of the game.

If some of those early shots for us had fallen, it's entirely possible that we could have given ORU a game, or maybe even stolen it from them. Our defense was pretty good tonight. Our offense stunk--not because we weren't getting good shots (we were) but because they weren't falling.

Our guys need to hit the weight room and get stronger, and hit the court this summer for an extra couple of hours of shooting. The bar is set with the Oral Roberts' of the world. We are not there yet.

We need to recruit a couple more athletic guys with court sense in order to play consistently with the ORUs of the world.

Our players coming back have ample opportunity to improve and avenge this loss, but it will take a superior level of dedication in the off-season.

In the meantime, we have one last final chance to escape the Summit League basement, Saturday night. I think the guys will show up and play well, and they deserve a big crowd to cheer them on and thank them for their hard work this year. Let's end this thing on an up note!

                            Re: ORU at home

That was the most frustrating game of the year for me!

For the first ten minutes I thought the Jacks outplayed ORU in every category except for the small fact that someone left the lid on the bucket! WE GOT GOOD SHOTS but the damn things just wouldn't go down! The defensive intensity from the Jacks was fantastic. It is no accident that ORU has only one loss in conference. They probably would have raised their level of play if our shots had gone down because they are a senior/junior laden team that is battle tested but my point is that our effort was definitely there. We need to strive to be a team like ORU down the road!

The team played hard in the second half and we got to see some newer faces get some minutes (Tivis). I have to admit I was scrambling for a program there.

I have no doubt that the team will come out and play hard for our three seniors on Saturday night! They aren't going out any other way!

                            See you there!

REP POINTS AND AN AMEN to Filbert on that note.

Game sucked but let's be honest with ourselves...we got beat by 15...I'm guessing if there was a spread on this game it was right around that.

I'll start really getting excited about this team when we start winning games we aren't expected to win going in. I hope that happens sooner than later because I can't remember the last time it happened.

Let's send out our 3 terrific seniors (Loney, Beran, Berte) with a win on Saturday night...don't forget it is senior night! That alone should get you to the game! These 3 guys have endured more during their careers here than any of us will ever know. Let's say I'll be one guy that will have a hard time seeing them leave the Frost Arena floor for the last time.

                                Re: ORU at home

Oh, boy. Well, the best we can hope for this season is to finish with a win. Then, let's mercifully put it behind us. If there isn't significant improvement next year, we've got trouble. I don't mean conference title. That's unrealistic. I but I do mean:

                                -Not finishing last.
-Winning a couple of conference road games.
                                -Winning close games.
                                -Shooting respectably, especially at home.
                                -Playing consistantly.

The shooting percentage at home the past two games is unacceptable. That's the only word. And, you know, what do you do? Just keep shooting. But this 20-percent range ... that just won't cut it.

It will be a little embarassing if we "host" the conference tournament and we don't even qualify. And by a little embarassing, I mean a lot embarassing.

OK, let me pause to sigh.

I understand the frustration of some posters. And, to me, making comments about poor play (and let's be honest, we've had some) and bashing are not one and the same. Just my two bits. Let's hope for a better season come next winter.

                                Go, Jacks!

I hope I am proved wrong, but I don't see a big improvement coming next year.

I do however appreciate the effort that our guys give every night. I think they are trying their best and just haven't been able to put it all together. I don't know how many second half leads we've blown this year, but hopefully with some more experience we can hang onto some of them.

Let's hope we can get a win on Saturday to close out the season and give our young players something to build on.
