I am starting to think you should try not to analyze basketball.

Dale isn't any more physical than those two. Maybe a little more athletic, but not more physical.

Do us a favor and stay home if your just going to sit there.

True fair weather fan. Will start to show the support they deserve when the going gets a little better.

Low point for the program? I think that is a legitimate question. It has nothing to do with being better than last year or the year before or the year before. We had NO CHANCE in a game against our supposed peer. If that doesn't hit home for you, I don't know what does. I'm ready for the rah rah guys to spin this one.
Well, i was going to say we got pounded by a deeper, more experienced team on their floor but i don't want to be accused of being a "rah rah" spin master. Maybe i'll just piss and moan about where the program is. Nah..... i'll leave that to you.

People are obviously going to take this loss pretty bad. Rivalry game that got ugly fast.

It was obvious NDSU was a team that had been playing together for more than one year.

The top five players minute wise for NDSU were all juniors and one Soph. All four of those juniors also played an average of, 32, 23, 34, and 35 minutes per game last year, and 31, 24, 34, and 29 the year before that. three of those four started 28 of 28 games last year and the fourth started 15 out of 15 games played. The year before that three of the four started all 28 games, the fourth started 14-28, but still played 29 minutes a game.

Compare that to our top five players minute wise. We had two freshman, two sophs, and one senior. One of those players didn't play last year, Kai played a good amount of minutes, Callahan around 28 minutes.

Let's be honest here, NDSU is where we are going to be in two years. When Kai and Garrett are seniors and Clint, Anthony, Palarca, Dale are juniors. It was blatantly obvious we were playing a more experienced team that had been playing a lot of ball together.

I completely understand frustration. But, we've had a lot of defects that would be playing quality minutes for us.

I hope everyone will continue to support this team and look forward to what will be.

Hopefully all those stats made sense as well.

          Go Jacks!!!

It was a long drive back home last night. The Bison crowd let us know how far we are behind them. I was really upset on how much Nagy was shouting at the kids. They need coaching right now, and they aren't getting it. The poor kids know when they make a mistake, but to get pulled immediately and get yelled at is very high school. I'm in favor of a Division 1 coach.

You're right. This is grade school bball, Coach Nagy shouldn't be shouting at those little boys.

Nagy coaches them from tip off to the final horn, no matter what the score is.

Coach Nagy goes anywhere and this program is set back for another four years after some of our top players follow him out the door.

I'm in favor of people educating themselves about the game of basketball and the level of basketball were playing at now. I'd be more worried if Nagy wasn't shouting than if he was over there patting them on the ass trying to make them feel better about losing.

Nagy's been coaching like that for 13 years. He has more than 200 wins coaching like that. AJ (although he has a calmer reputation for some reason) does exactly the same thing, and his success speaks for itself. Bob Knight is a pretty successful D1 coach, and he does a bit of yelling as I recall. Ever seen how Tubby Smith coaches during games? Bit of yelling there, too, and he pulls kids who make dumb mistakes. Coach Stig doesn't yell much... but his assistants sure do. How come all those "poor kids" are so successful?

These are 18- and 19-year-olds for the most part. Coach Nagy knows them better than any of us do. I'm thinking that when they come out scared like they did last night, maybe they needed a little yelling to wake them up. And they did outplay NDSU in the second half (and yes, I realize that provides very little solace to any of us).

As I have said here before, Coach Nagy has forgotten more about basketball this morning than any of us will ever know. The guy's a winner and has been his whole life. If you think we can just fire Coach Nagy and have somebody waltz in and win, you're kidding yourself. Nobody knows better where each of these young people need to get than Coach Nagy. Look at Anthony Cordova... he has made enormous strides just this year. So has Dale Moss. Clint Sargent is 18-years-old and has started every game as a 6'4" point guard. He's up and down, but that's to be expected of a true freshman. And contrary to one poster's impression here, you won't find many guards tougher than Garrett Callahan. Mike Palarca is a great defender, but he has a separated shoulder and couldn't play last night. That might have helped keep Woodside in check during the middle half of the game.

These kids will win. It's not going to happen this year. But it'll happen.
                      Holy nutmeg!

rabbit, nothing about filberts post was opinion. Just a guy bailing until things are going well again. As far as any post that wants Nagy gone. I'm going to downgrade it every time. Nagy gone would be another setback.

                        Jimmy, that's a great post!

I both agree and disagree with these and other posters comments. These are young men and do need more coaching vs yelling. Sometimes yelling is appropriate. Not constantly. These young men need to be built up not broken down. Clearly the team has my support now and will in the future. It serves no purpose to bash players, coach's or fans. Coach Nagy has not forgotten how to coach. In my opinion coach Nagy does not adorn himself to the general public like Stig, AJ and others. Therefore he does not garner the faithful support from fans like myself. It was not a proud moment for Jackrabbit fans last night. We were all hoping to get our Jackrabbits on T.V.! Be carefull what you wish for! Hopefully the ladies can put a number on the Bison tonight and we will all feel better.

We are young, wait until two or three years, we need to give Nagy a few more years.
This is a repeat of three years ago, two years ago, last year.
When are we going to turn the corner?

...An off the topic question. Why is Payton Tivis just seeing his first action now? If he truly is a future prospect a redshirt would've made more sense...why play him for 6 minutes roughly 20 games into the year? I highly doubt he'll be a contributor this year, so why waste the year of eligibility?

                                what do you want done?

For those of you that want Nagy out, who do you think were gonna bring in that'd be better?

I think some are quick to send him packing, but haven't thought one minute past that point. How's it going to affect the players there now? Who would transfer? Would the juco commit for next year want out of his commitment? Would or commits for the following year look elsewhere? Is the next coach going to bail as soon as something better comes along? Cause I think nagy wants to be here and finish here.

Remember, there's a whole lot more to during the year coach than meets the eye.
