• Re: 2007 Recruits

I'm wondering with the signing of the kid from california if Nagy doesn't know something about Iverson and Schilling? Since it would only leave 1 more available for 07.

I'll take it for not worth much, Blue.  For some reason, I have this mental picture of me meeting Blue in person and going through a "Three Stooges" --like routine (you know, poke the eyes, couple of -nyuk nyuks and a hit on the head).  Blue, you're trying to be pesky by dangling something out there you can't or won't prove so please stop.

Now, I'll let you in on a little secret: this message board software allows the moderators to do all kinds of impressive things.  For example, we have just decreed that the new recruit out of California is definitely 5'10" -- end of discussion!   ;D
I wouldn't question blue's credibility. "You're my boy blue!"

Quote from Terry's blog.
Despite being listed at 5-10 (and Nagy thinks that is a reach).

Maybe, I'm missing out on the joke.  I'm too simpled-minded too understand it all.

Most reports list Palarca as 5-10 but there are those who believe that may be a generous assessment. Whether 5-9 or 5-10, by all accounts he's a great player and is a great catch for the Jackrabbits.

We'll have some very nice talent on the floor and I am looking forward to the upcoming men's season. Between the men's and women's team, Frost is going to really rock in 07-08. Our first year in the Mid-Con is going to be one to remember.

Go Jacks!!

Twas about this time last year I said there would be some changes. And a guy by the name of Steve Holdren left the program. I had a good dangling carrot...Credibility or not you be the judge.

Blue, let's drop the subject for now.  We could both get booted off of here, but then it would be just you an me discussing the Jacks with each other.  Not fun.  I hope to see you at the tailgate.

Blue: if you decide to take in the Drake Relays (I have my tickets near the finish line), make sure you go to Des Moines, not Sioux City.

I'm sorry I forgot what this thread was about..........here I'll try to put back on task ;D:

1 more scholarship for 2007 recruits. This will go towards a JUCO athlete. SDSU staff has their eye on many around the country. The signing of the CA kid means only 2 for 2008. The signing of the CA kid eliminates positions (for now) being recruited in the 2008 class. This had nothing to do with insights or predicting the future for what kids may or may not do.

Colton Iverson was on campus last weekend. The visit went well.

Coach Nagy strongly believes the current team can compete and win the Mid-Con Conference this year.

Counting scholarships? How productive is it? I think its a waste of time trying to second quess a staff in any sport at SDSU. The coaches and staff hold their cards to their chest and make their moves accordingly. I think in Men's BB we have a tendency to make these people into bigger people than they asked for. Don't forget most if not all came to SDSU for an education and to enjoy life as a student. Some times, I think some of us try to be Mary Hart /and the Entertainment Tonight Show when we discuss individuals. I too am beginning to see the wisdom of the rumor policy as it pertains to student athletes. The staff at SDSU know what they have left in terms of scholarships, and I will let them worry about the number. Its their job and they are getting paid to be concerned. The offical press releases are more than enough to keep up with when you consider 20 sports are offered at SDSU.

Maybe I am just crabby today, but felt it needs to be said. How many scholarships have been filled? Dont know and dont care.

It gets Old Cadsev your not as creditable as you seem. I looked back at some of your post, first you said that State was done after signing Sargent, Moss, and the Madison kids... You also stated that State was going to quit with the 2 freshman and only go after JuCo kids to even out the scholarships... I may not be creditable and I may say alot of dumb things but I don't come on here and sound creditable when all the stuff i say i crap.. You said how SDSU needs to get a kid like Louie Krogman when playing for the scholers, now your saying well they don't need them. As far as 300 kids with a tallent level of Craig Doty, I think you need to check your figures, there isnt 300 kids with the talent level of myself and I havn't played in well along time.

Don't attack my post just say no I don't think SDSU should go in that direction.

Do you see SDSU redshirting many of these kids? I would redshirt Moss and Sargent as in there prety much the same player as Cadwell and Kai... As far as Cassady and Palarca... both play possitions that would allow them to come in and play good minutes, and I don't know enough about the two guys too know if a redshirt would benifit them or not.

And as far as Alcester being in Scotland I don't get the joke at all, Alcester is east of Berdsford. Scotland the town is west of Yankton and Scotland the country is part of the United Kingdom.

SDSU has signed a 4 year HS player from CA.  That leaves them with one scholarship left right now that is going towards a JUCO player.  They will sit on a scholarship for the 2009 class and give the JUCO one to either White or Fiegen in two years.

For the 2008 class they only have one remaining scholarship.....why because they already have received a verbal from Colorado HS Athlete James Rader (6'7" 4-man).

The remaining scholarship in the 2008 class will be put towards a big.  They won't sign a guard.....UNLESS SOMEONE LEAVES AGAIN!  Gee funny how when scholarship athletes leave they open up scholarships and needs, making room for more athletes and making it possible to sign more kids in a given class.

This is the current state of recruitment today at SDSU.......oh and they anticipate 4 scholarships for the 2010 class.....good thing.......decent athletes in state to choose from that year.
The good news is James Rader the Colorado recruit at 6'7 might not be done growing!

I am going to support the rumor rule because I am a college student and I change my mind all the time.... I had 2 friends that were bound and determined that they were going to go to USD next year, then they broke up with there girlfriends. There was 2 guys that quit the football team because they were going to transfer then realized that they were in a good situation here. I was going to go to SDSU next year then my grades slipped and now I will be back here again. College kids change there mind all the time and until its official that somebody is leaving I don't think we should commit on it.

As far as the recruits I think SDSU is taking a gamble with a kid they have never seen live before. The Cassidy kid from Colorado is going to depend on if he can come in and gain D-I strength without loosing his range. As far as Moss and Sargent we know alil bit more about these kids. Moss was probally the most athletic player in the State this past year. and Sargent seems to be a steel to me as well as others.

The 07 verbel I know nothing about
The 08 verbel's Chad White is a D-I 3, he has range and can beat people of the dribble.
Tony Fiegan will depend on if he grows from 6-6---6-8 like alot think he could do... if he does that he could become a great 4 right now he is a good 3.
