Since when has Saul Phillips become the gold standard in recruiting. He hasn't done anything...yet. He's still riding the Tim Miles wave.
I thought the same thing. Like Nagy is some sort of a turd. Gee, should we compare their overall resumes? I like Saul, I know people who know Saul and he's a genuine guy, but he was handed that team.
well.. I guess WE were assuming that since he said "SDSU was pushing him" that he wasn't happy about it.
that was the general consensus. and since Saul & Tim Miles didnt get Wolters, something smells fishy.. but whateva.
I played in St cloud Tech's conference, Ill find out through my sources..
Dude.... NDSU is good but come on since they loose out a recruit to SDSU, Nagy must be giving the kids dad a tractor or something....
My guess is it had something to do with this.... first of all Nagy still having a job and the fact that Nagy was recruiting him when nobody else was.... NDSU coming in very late, and CSU coming in and then signing 3 kids before Nate even made a decision.

Yeah Lakebison, SDSU does not use the movie Blue Chips as our recruiting model. We may have an ag engineering dept, but no free tractors for anyone. Gosh they cost money.
Nate Wolters wants to be at SDSU, and he will help turn it around for us. Cherish the memories of Woody Woodsides while they are fresh.
Who cares? This is an SDSU board and a thread about what has turned out to be a pretty good Jacks' great recruiting class.
We're witnessing the the unintended consequence of bannings on other boards.
As we've seen w/ the football team, good recruits bring other good recruits. We have 4 good players arriving in a few months and more following them. Get 4,000 people in the stands (ahem!), be competetive in the Summit and watch us sign kids like Wolters every year. If we're getting good kids without winning a road game, losing 20 five years in a row and only having 2,400 in the seats, then watch what we'll do WHEN all of that changes!
I always thought the talk of getting rid of Nagy was hogwash. A friend that worked at the Summit tourney said he overheard talk of him being gone. I never agreed and am so glad we have kept him, a very good coach and a man of integrity. I hope he and Klink and Austin are here for a looooong time...
One last comment about NDSU not landing Wolters. I find it comical. I like NDSU and Saul and will continue to root for their success. But to think, based on last year, that they are some sort of powerhouse, not true. How short some peoples memory is. They just finished their best season ever and graduated their best player ever, not to mention another fine player in Winkleman. There is one place to go now for NDSU, and it's not up. I think they can and will continue to be a top team in the Sumit most years, but for people to simply discount SDSU and Scott Nagy b/c we've fallen on some tought times, after years and years of success, is foolish.
We've fought through the tough times and we still stand with our heads held high.....we made it and now we're going to assume the business of kicking ass and taking names.....so lookout!
We had a very nice recruiting class and then landing Wolters made it a great class. The women's team also has a great class coming in. Obviously they haven't started anything yet, but based on what we know would the be one of the best combined classes for men and women (same year) in a while?
For those who want to see some game film on Nate Wolters, here is a highlight film of St. Cloud Tech playing Buffalo for the Class 4A District 8 championship: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OlDQbV6avg
Not all the highlights are of Wolters, but he appears very frequently in this video (#15 in black).

Looks a lot like Brayden Carlson from the highlights.
I gotta say, I'm a little disappointed that our 6'4" game changer point guard couldn't throw it down on a break away...

If your questioning whether Wolters can dunk the ball with authority I assure you he can. Might night have been the right time or place to do that in a close game!
