Interesting fact - we lost our last two coaches TJ and Hendo to “promotions” the season after they both LOST in the FIRST ROUND of the Summit League tournament. Sure would be nice to lose a coach after taking the program to new heights, which it feels like should be what schools are looking for and what you typically see, vs a post season low point, ha! Let’s lose Peterson after a sweet 16 run please!!
I’ll say I do think Hendo was a good maybe not great coach who at least maintained for the most part. I do like Petersons resume prior to SDSU and just hoping he was the guy on the staff with the best relationships with many of the players. Will be an interesting few weeks but I feel ok about this coaching change.

I think Hendo did a great job, the first round loss in the SL Tourney was a crappy ending but this was a year with a whole new starting lineup and a lot of youth. Needless to say I am not going to try to diminish Hendo in his way out the door.
That being said I am excited for the Peterson led team. It will be interesting to see how the players and staff shake out. Then on to next season, let's go Rabbits this is a heck of a basketball program and these things enforce that fact. The program built a good team this past season when many thought we should be down, and our administration had a solid succession plan in place which has now being executed quickly.
Let's Go Rabbits! The future is bright. The Zen philosopher Basha once wrote, 'A flute with no holes, is not a flute. A donut with no hole, is a Danish.'

Losing Daum arguably the GOAT of SDSU bball.
Losing Scheirman, Zeke and William Kyle would be tough for anyone to deal with.
He did it all the while making a couple of NCAAs and always finishing in the top half of Summit.

If I had to give Hendo a letter grade it would be a B. He wasn’t groundbreaking but he kept a fairly solid thing going fairly well. That being said there could be a lot of pain and suffering if the roster is torn up or vice versa if it stays intact and that in itself could make it a B- or B+

All I was saying is that’s somewhat atypical. That’s it. Wasn’t a slight it’s one game. As I said think he was a good coach and I liked him. Did rebuild the roster this year. Odd/unique timing for promotions. Hoping for more typical circumstances for the next one in probably a few years.
Also more optimistic than I thought I would be when Hendo left.

Who will be on the list to replace Pete on the bench? Is it a new guy or does Tramel slide over?Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

I don’t care how amazing the coach is, with the way things have changed the last couple years its going to take a miracle for any Summit-level team to get a win in the NCAA Tournament. Those 4-senior starting lineups aren’t coming back.
All this to say, I thought Hendo was awesome. I thought heā€™d get poached last year.

Petey will do a good job. He wouldn't have been my choice but Sell has shown that he knows what he's doing.
I was pulling for it to be Klink... he might be the only Assistant with the Associate Head Coach tag to be at a place for 19 years and be passed over by an assistant lower on the pay scale. To me it's not a good look and I wouldn't blame Klink for wanting to get out and go to Drake.
You cannot argue that Klink has a huge part in the sustained success the past decade and a half of Jackrabbit Basketball, and it sucks that he didn't get a shot, he at least deserved that.
