What the H is going on in Fargo?
I know Bison fans seem to hate on Dave for some reason. But his teams always play well, and are always in the mix of things. 4 straight Summit League Championship game appearances.
Losing 3 seniors, I get.
MHH, don't know why he's transferring...but I get it. Jarius Cook was someone I thought could be really good for them in the future, with more opportunities?
If Dave leaves... (which I don't see...MAC schools see themselves as far superior to the Summit, although Ohio did hire Saul), going to get really interesting.
Especially with the turnover at USD. Bruns leaving UND. Wow.

I am pretty surprised with Hayes and Cook leaving!!! they seem the type of players who would move up and be the new Tyree Eady's and so on in a program that has shown the ability to be MORE than consistently good!!!
i would have thought with those 2 and nelson coming back, Richman maybe dips into the juco or transfer world and picks up another player ala Vinny S. and they are EASILY right at the top
i am REALLY surprised. but i wont be surprised if they STILL find a way to be at the top
WE DO NOT NEED Dave Richman leaving NDSU right now!!! we need this conference to have stability and get better!!! Losing a coach who had the year Lee had along with a 17 year veteran like Hanson at UNO is bad enough
UMKC has big losses to grad. ORU might lose Max, but i kind of have doubts
we dont need a bunch of player losses at usd and ndsu. i HATE usd and i will NEVER deny that and i will NEVER cheer for them to win a contest of anything
but we really dont need them and ndsu to take significant steps backward

I just don't want this group to miss any tournament opportunities, so if next year it still means getting in with a weak Summit League, then I'm probably cool with that.

With that said, in the short-term view with this current group/era, the basketball ops should focus hard on scheduling a strong, difficult non-conf next year. This year's non-conf was not terrific scheduling. Take some bumps if needed early in the year with plans of snagging a couple big-time/ Quad 1 wins. Then go roll in the Summit against a weaker league if that's how it shakes out in 2023. Realistically right now our best option will be a 10-12 seed with a run to the Sweet 16. Long-term it would be wonderful to step into the shoes of a Murray State, Wichita State, etc.

i have FULL confidence that the powers that be did EVERYTHING they could this year to schedule a tough OOC. but i think other teams are smart too! they see that last year we played west virginia very tough!! we destroyed utah state!!! we beat Iowa St in ames and Bradley at bradley
they see we had the same team back
and i think we are going to have the same trouble next year. look at the horizon? does oakland want to play us?? IUPUI??? IPFW???? we know wright state is not playing us!!! the MVC? well missouri state has been willing to play us. thank them for that)) now we need to beat them but then they might not want to keep playing us
and obviously there is ZERO insentive for P5 schools to play us
anyway i have said most of this several times already. we are just in a weird place for scheduling purposes at the moment. i believe we will get through it
and actually i think the 11, 12, 13 seeds are really good spots. it is fine to play a 4 or 5 seed and then the other one to get to round of 16. it would be GREAT if we could not have to play in the other team backyard but we will overcome that too.
i am curious what would have to happen for us to get to play a first round game in omaha or KC or twin cities. that said i am not much for bracket pools so i have not looked yet. if we make sweet 16 where is the midwest regional location this year?
