Have to wonder if it's for something other than job performance. I thought he exceeded expectations given the hand he was dealt. Maybe they got tired of not him recruiting more regional 4 year players.

Count me as not a Todd Lee fan, but wow! He took a group that lost AJP and Umude and had them in the semis of the conference tourney. That sure seemed like a success to me. At the beginning of the season I wouldn't have put them in the top 6 of the league.

That is surprising. Has to be something else going on. Lee was not told why he was terminated according to reports. They are going to be good next season. Wow

yeah, he has had good teams. If they are going by winning summit league tournaments like SDSU and NDSU are, sure it didnt go as planned, but took nothing and turned it into something. A bit of a surprise. Isnt he a USD alum also? I would have thought he would have gotten more time and his best player back next year.

Herbster has put up with Bob Nielsen’s mediocre tenure for years so this has to be non performance related.

Agree, he did very good with what he had.

Have to wonder if a lot of the foreign players he brought in will stick around with a different coach.

Todd was not well liked in Vermillion community and alumni. Not surprising at all.

could you build on that? Like personally or what?

Agree that there’s definitely more to this story than on the court performance.

Zach Dosch (UND Midco analyst for most UND games) had been hinting at illegal tampering by a local coach in the Paul Bruns situation (see his Twitter) the last few days. This evening he Tweeted “…. Not because of on the court performance…” when the news broke. Not sure if he really knows anything, but it has been interesting.

Zach is really hinting hard at their being something going on behind the scenes connecting Bruns and Lee. Very, very interesting.

Part of Lee's problem was that the 3 other institutions in the state have had sustained success. USD has been respectable, but compared to the other programs they are, at best, treading water. That's more than enough ammunition for alumni if they already don't like him for whatever reason.

Good point. But Lee has been the head coach at USD longer than Hendo has been the head guy at SDSU,

the jacks are not only breaking records this year! they are breaking entire athletic departments.

they beat UNO round one and UNO fires coach Hansen who has been there a long time and done generally well and was also dealing with significant injuries and unexpected roster turnover this year

they beat usd and the school fires coach lee who no matter how you slice it had his team overachieving this year

i am guessing the athletic department at ndsu continues to have their self esteem intact. all things considered they have done ok since moving to D1. i guess coach richman is probably safe, but....?????

Wow, coaches had better not lose to SDSU at the SLT! I figured we were good enough that a loss to us wouldn't be a career ending thing...
