You have obviously never dealt with employees or personnel in an industry with cumulative fatigue where lives are on the line. I have and know how it affects decision making over time. It's not just physical, it's mental decision making.
Jacks lose on mental mistakes in the first half and free throw shooting, all related to cumulative fatigue.
Tons of research on cumulative fatigue in aviation, wildland fire and the military. Hendo might want to take a look at it.

He knew he had a short bench after Noah went down and needed to very actively monitor minutes. Arians and Baylor both made a lot of poor passes in the first half that dug too big of hole to overcome.

His game's never been to physically overpower opponents--he slides by them."The most rewarding things you do in life, are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.” Arnold Palmer

If you want to talk about bench development how about Easley. He was a dude on defense the last 1/2 of the conference season.

SDSU was the better team tonight and all year. Dominated many facets. Pretty hard to beat a team that is shooting out of their minds like ORU was tonight.
Scheierman is an incredibly complete player. So fun to watch. He can play with the game on the line too. Conference player of the year in his future.
Friedel is very good on the defensive end which was missed and often overlooked.
Really solid team, fun to watch. Just dont catch the breaks and the ball goes through the net more than it really should for the other guys sometimes. Feels like a waste of a year but glad we get to run it back with this team next year.

Any word on why Wingett didn't play? Turnovers, missed free throws, point blank misses, lack of defense (90 points) and ORU just shooting at a high level was the difference. Guys played their heart out in the end, but not enough!
I know benches are shortened during tourneys and that is why it is so important to work on roster minutes though out the season. Baylor has a lot more gas in the tank if he plays 2-4 less minutes a game.
That is my point about cumulative fatigue, it is insidious and hard to quantify. Only after years of data of aviation accidents, wildland fire fatalities and military command mistakes has fatigue been understood in peer-reviewed science.
My frustrations aren't just with this game, ORU shot lights out and we've seen Jacks teams since the mid 90's get bit by that.
It's the not actively preparing for the eventual time when the teams runs out of gas. It's happened 3 years in a row that the Jacks have looked fatigued in a conference tourney.

Plenty of research out there in sports and other high risk industries that support the Jacks choke job in the last 3 SLT's could be due to cumulative fatigue. It's not acute fatigue which you cite in your post, it's a different beast altogether.
