Re: GDT: SDSU vs Omaha
No one is disputing that Mike Daum is a very good offensive player, which is also obvious to every team we play as shown by the double and sometimes triple teams he faces. To really be competitive, we need to have the players to make them pay for doing that. So far, that hasn't happened.

I have lost interest in this year's team, and have watched less than 5 games so far. I was a big critic of Coach Nagy, but I have zero doubt we would have more wins with his coaching style. I keep wondering how the team would be doing if we had gone after Coach Billeter instead of a flashy P5 assistant... hopefully Otz is the right solution with a higher upside, but I'm having a hard time seeing it. Best case at this point is suck this year, make noise the next two years, and we are back looking for a new Otz. Then a few years of suck, make noise, and repeat. Such is life as a mid-major.
I'm not giving up on Coach Otz, but we gotta get this ship pointed in the right direction.

Re: GDT: SDSU vs Omaha
Most of the time assistants are responsible for recruiting and considering we still have klink on our bench to say the previous staff didn't focus on recruiting is kind of foolish. I do not know if klink handled recruiting or not but I do know recruiting is how a lot of assistants make a name.

If you have talked to anyone at the games this year, defense is likely the most often discussed topic of MBB.

Re: GDT: SDSU vs Omaha
Going by efficiency as in pts per minutes played (PPM),in the order of highest to lowest ,it goes like Daum at .7 pts per min played,Howell at .48, Dykman (.36),Tellinghuisen and Hess at .34,Orris and Wallace at .33, Theisen at .3 pts per min, everyone else under .3,Flatten at .28 is the highest PPM of those under .3 That's pretty much your offense in the games played so far. These are just a representation of the players who get the most pts for their minutes on the floor, nothing else considered such as who's the best defensive player and what not. Those considerations, other than scoring, are very important too, don't get me wrong. But,if you need some points in a hurry, you might want to look at these figures.Of course, players might cool off or get hot as the season progresses,so you have to re-evaluate these figures from time to time.
Another thing to get more wins,is get more chances to score (more possessions),that's rebounding, taking care of the ball so as not to lose possessions, and get some steals and/or force your opponent into turning the ball over. But defense is probably the key to cover up any shortcomings a team may have and keep them in the game.Hopefully,we'll get it figured out sooner rather than later.Last edited by jackdaniel; 01-11-2017, 12:36 AM.

Sorry you feel that way. Someone else mentioned that as well other than me. It's not that crazy of a thought...

also people focus on ppg...honestly that doesn't mean a lot because pace dictates that. You have to look at points given up per possession.
Does anyone kind of think TJ now doesn't want to try man 2 man for even 5 minutes because if it works it would actually look bad for him??
We talk about energy every game ...since it's brought up after every loss do you guys think thats on the coaches or the players for the lack of energy?
