Re: GDT: SDSU vs Omaha
Let's just say defensively we are as bad as you can imagine. In ken poms key defensive metric (defensive efficiency) we are beating 18 teams out of 351. 18 fricken teams and otzelberger is worried about offense??????
Here are some kenpom#s
Defensive #s
3pt % - 37.5% ranked 272nd
2pt% - 53.7% ranked 306th
def adjusted efficiency 112 ranked 333th
Def effective fg % 55% ranked 312th
Offensive #s
3pt % - 33.9% ranked 214th
2pt % - 49.6% ranked 150th
offensive adjusted eff 105 ranked 119th
effective fg % 50.2 ranked 178th
Offensive/Defensive Efficiency – This is the number of points scored or allowed per 100 possessions. There are only about 70 possessions for each team in the average college basketball game, so these numbers are higher that the points-per-game statistics you see used by the media.
Effective field goal percentage is like regular field goal percentage except that it gives 50% more credit for made three-pointers.eFG% = (.5*3FGM + FGM) / FGA

Flatten is the type of player who his 1 asset is his energy/athleticism similar to Dale Moss. If I remember his playing time wasn't so much good defense as it was lack of focus type of thing, which coming from a true-freshman makes sense.
I thought he played well, I liked when he was on the floor with Daum.... I liked when Daum, Theisen, Flatten and Tellinghusen were on the floor. I thought they were the energy leader

Now I would ask for you to come clean with these innuendos. Is there something in fact to back your bringing these to the table? By the way, read the post #58 which has the response to your post and try not to read any more info into the post. Then try to remember a coach telling a player who is leaving the program good riddance. Then put the pat on the back response to your assertion and that the extra time here for Cole Gentry has been a really good time for him. I will agree that Coach Otz was cordial with announcement. However you are a bit naïve to expect me to be happy to see a talented point guard and a good kid move on to another school. Also, I would expect you to respond to your drivel surrounding the coach's contract and the possible transfer of King.
If you want to throw a fit about a player leaving, have at it, but don't expect not to be confronted if you lie about how the staff allegedly handled a player's departure.
Yet again, I have never stated that a transfer is imminent or even likely. What I posted was that I was disappointed King was benched, would be more disappointed if it continued, and would be still more disappointed if lack of playing time caused him to leave.

Obviously I'm yanking your chain, Thumps. But I figured you'd appreciate defense a little more in round ball than your letting on.

As for looking at a possible stat sheet, TJ seems to flip a page (it's audible on the video at the 1:12 mark) during the interview, when he mentioned production from other players. I mentioned jacksstudent's post from the Overview thread in this one as an example of what could be valid points.
As for King, again, I never said he was transferring; I said IF he were to transfer, it would be disappointment on another level.

Also, it would seem very unusual to suggest that Coach Otz was reading the stat sheet. You suggestions prompted me to read some of your other posts. One post is referring about the parameters of Coach Otz's tenure. No one had brought that idea up prior to your post #51. Also, if I go to the post #33 on the overview and random thoughts thread; you will find the first mention of Tevin King being another possible transfer. Not that I would accuse you of calling the kettle black, I would advise you that an overactive imagination that seems to be engaged from that first post of mine on post #50. So do you have some inside information that led you to drop these remarks?

Re: GDT: SDSU vs Omaha
Here's the reality for all you guys who are huge bball fans, and it's something Zimmer said in his podcast. We aren't entitled to 20 wins every year. We aren't Gonzaga. We are a good mid major program but we are going to have down years, and if any of us had paid any attention we probably would have pegged this year as one of the down years. Sorry to burst your bubbles/ we aren't able to just roll the ball on the court and get a win cause we are SDSU. We came into this season with a brand new coaching staff and zero experienced guards and were forced to replace the ones that left with already passed over players. You should actually read the stats that bigticket posted, the records for Nagy before he got any decent front court play were pretty bad.
You don't like that Otz plays the type of ball you want to watch? Welp, that's too bad I guess. If you want to be pissed all year that's a you problem.

Sorry, but Daum's presence alone and preseason plaudits don't win games, and it takes time to implement new systems. You'd figure an expert like you would know that.
