      SDSU rank in Summit League Play : Offense - 8th ; Defense - 6th.

        Do we have pace of play numbers available? That also plays into PPG, which doesn't tell us much without knowing pace of play and PPS, etc. I'm terrible at finding that stuff.

          The halftime of the Omaha MBB game could have used the ushers to count the pace of exit. It may have been the doubleheader made people tired. The pace of exit picked up more at the under 12 with some acceleration as the under 4 arrived. It was a bit nostalgic of the early D1 days when we did have a few more D2 players on the roster. The casual fan may have a bit of a problem this year as the men's team struggles for an identity. If you have talked to anyone at the games this year, defense is likely the most often discussed topic of MBB.

            Definitely agree, I would say defense and 3pt fg made against us per game, I'm guessing in that specific category there can't be 5 teams in the country worse

                  You'll get no argument from me. That award is based almost solely on offensive stats. Daum's ability to score is incredible. Haven't seen many players like him. Hoping the team around him can find their identity and make this Jackrabbit team more competitive. Thus far, I haven't seen much to be optimistic about.

                    It doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot, but I have been meaning to compare Daum points to Wolters points through the same point in his career.

                    Through 19 games in Soph year.
                    Wolters = 669 pts
                    Daum = 937 pts.

                    Wolters played 24.3 minutes per game his frosh year. (303 pts)
                    Daum played 20.8 minutes per game his frosh year. (518 pts).

                      Daum is indeed very impressive in terms of point scoring. His being three teamed at times should open other players to step up and get the job done.

                        The fact that Daum draws the number of double (and sometimes triple) teams that he does, and the offense is not taking enough advantage of that, is a problem. Part of that in my opinion is that our players at the PG and 2 guard spots are not good perimeter shooters, with the exception of Wallace (who is streaky). Our best outside shooters are Hess and Telly. Opposing teams quickly figured out that they can double down on Daum, play Telly and Hess tight, and not play as tight on our guards, basically challenging them to hit some perimeter shots, which they haven't consistently done. With the attention Daum draws, there has to be someone open if you can effectively move the ball. Some of the blame for not being able to do this may very well be the offensive sets we run. I wish we would play Daum and Theisen together more, but then you have the problem of no post players available off the bench. I would still like to see some of that, and give Dykman a few minutes backing them up.

                          Seems to me that far too often, Daum gets an entry pass from a teammate who's over on one wing, while the other three teammates are either at the top of the key or on the opposite side from the entry passer. When Daum gets the double (triple) teamed, and has no good passing lane to kick out to the open guy(s).

                          It was happening often enough for me to notice it, anyway . . .

                            I agree. Daum is killing us. He is being double and triple teamed but he is so slow to get the ball out of his hands. He insists on pounding the ball until he turns it over. Yes he gets his points but it brings the offense to a complete stand still. We have shooters on this team but it will be up to him to find them more quickly. Basketball is a guard driven game today and right now to put it nicely ours are not good! This team will get better but if people want to think we could lose Parks and Marshall and not lose a beat I just don't get it.
