Illinois State is a start of a tough 5 game road trip for the Jacks. The Redbirds are coming off a 1 point win at home against Moorhead State. They are 1-1 on the season with the lone loss coming at the other SDSU.

SDSU got them in football, now its time in basketball!

The Summit is 2-0 against the MVC so far this season
IUPUI beat Indiana State 72-70.
Missouri State lost to Oral Roberts 65-80.

FWIW, Vegas has SDSU as 4.5 point underdogs. If we play like we did against Weber State, I see us winning this game.

ESPN 3 might be my favorite "channel" ever. It is an absolute awesome invention especially for mid major/FCS fans! Thank you to all the Midco-Sports-like networks that make ESPN3 happen.

The Redbirds are picked for 4th place in the MVC. Wichita St., Evansville, and UNI are picked ahead. The Redbirds might have a bit of size advantage across the roster, but the Jackrabbit speed may help balance the difference. In their loss to the other SDSU, they were outrebounded and shot about 30%. In the 1 point victory(at home) over Morehead St of the OVC, they shot 51% and were still outrebounded. Both games show free throw shooting has been an adventure with an average of 60%. It would be great to start out with a win in the Cancun Challenge. Go Jacks!!

I see that this game is technically a part of the Cancun Challenge. What does it have to do with it though? The bracket for the tournament in Cancun is already set, so do the games against Ill. St. and TCU make any difference?

I gotta say that a win over the preseason #4 team in the MVC would be nice considering that for the most part members of that league don't feel SDSU/NDSU are good enough for inclusion...

+1 on this comment. The MVC is a step above the Summit but this year the Jacks would battle for the top spot and last year would have been top 4 or so. The road to the tourney is obviously easier through the Summit but I'd love to see us move there. When Creighton left, I was thinking maybe we'd get an offer given the FB piece is a obvious fit. Quite frankly the ONLY MVC team notably better than the Jacks this year is Wichita State and they are ranked #10. Get them into Frost on cold Feb night and let's play. We bring may more to the MVC than, Drake, Bradley, Loyola, Evansville, Missouri State etc when it comes to overall quality of our athletic programs and our academics are solid. Add in the women's teams and it's even better. I am however guessing this argument or similar has been made quite often over the years.

Me too. However, I don't know if what we saw against Weber was one of those "perfect" games that you see a couple times per year or if it was indicative of just how good this SDSU team is. Tonight will be tough. Road wins against quality programs are hard to come by. This would be a very good one.

My main hope is to see more progress with our post trio. They were a nice combo against Weber and if they continue to develop we'll be in great shape for the Summit season.

This years team is on a mission this season and I think that is exactly what everyone saw against Weber State. I believe Nagy said somewhere that if his players get to full of themselves he will bring up the NDSU game from last year and remind them. Bittle said that was one of the worse feeling he had after that game. They are going to get it done this year if the Jacks can stay healthy.

When I look at the Jacks schedule I honestly don't see a game that isn't winnable. Minnesota didn't look that good when I watched them today, Texas Tech is rebuilding, TCU is nothing special. Tonight's game might be the toughest game of the non-conference along with at Minnesota.

With that being said, I'm sensing a Jackrabbit victory tonight. 74-68
