    Re: This Year!

I have a very profound respect for both the men's and women's teams this year, can't help but think both are going to accomplish much this season. Both teams compete like champions and I don't doubt that both are capable of being the representative of the Summit League in the NCAA Tournament. Beat the Golden Eagles.

        Interesting schedule quirk:
After tonight's win, Jacks have played 9 of their league games, Omaha 8 and everyone else 7.

That means that SDSU will have a full week to prepare for NDSU at home 2/14 (After they play at DEN on 2/12).

Also a full week for USD 2/28 (they have DEN at home on 2/25).

Only 4 games in the final 3 weeks of the season, meaning we should be healthy and rested for the league tourney.

I don't get this. How do they get a full week when they have a game two days ahead of the NDSU game?

Not very clear by me. NDSU plays at Denver on 2/12. SDSU has no mid-week game that week, and can spend the whole week preparing for NDSU.

              Re: This Year!

My Prediction for the Rest of the Season:

I see the Jacks finishing this year with a 13-3 or 12-4 record. The Indiana trip and the USD games are the only ones I'm worried about.

WIN(W)Denver: Shut down their shooters and they are nothing. SDSU knows how to play defense now.
LOSS(L)@IPFW: They can't be as bad as they were in Frost right? Revenge game for the Dons.
WIN(W)@IUPUI: Scrappy team. Weird home environment. That's about it.
WIN(W)NDSU: Rival game. This Jacks team wont let the Bison sweep them.
WIN(W/L)@WIU: They are a mess but have 1 potential future NBA player. (potential letdown game)
WIN(W)ORU: They can't beat anyone on the road.
(W/L)@USD: Rival game. SDSU outscored the Yotes 67-32 after falling down 20-0 at Frost. I expect a little closer game at the Dakota Dome.

I found a pretty cool RPI forecaster. You can change results of past games and project future games.

                http://www.rpiforecast.com/wizard/So...ota%20St..html

If SDSU win outs it projects the Jacks to have a RPI of 62. SDSU's current RPI is 115.

If you use the current Summit standing and plug in WIU, IUPUI and NDSU for wins in the conference tournament, it forecasts us with a 24-7 record and an RPI of 56.

Would hopefully be enough to get us a 13 seed.

That would mean the Jacks would have a 17 game winning streak. I really like this team , but that would be asking a lot. I can see the team winning out at home , but I wouldn't be surprised to see a loss or two on the road (hopefully not at USD).

The SDSU Basketball teams (men and women) are a combined 12-0 in league play this year at Frost with all wins by double digits so far this season. The Jacks are the only school in the nation to win all home league games by double digits. Pretty impressive stat.

Just thought I would put together a little numbers summery of the how the men's team performed at Frost this season with no home games left:

**OOC including non D1 opponents** **NOT including the neutral game at the Pentagon vs FGCU**

OOC smallest crowd: 1,301 vs UMKC
OOC average margin of victory: 20
OOC largest margin of victory: 45 vs Chadron ; 20 vs UMKC
OOC smallest margin of victory: 2 vs UND, Idaho

                        Conference average attendance: 3,624

Conference average margin of victory: 22.5
Conference largest margin of victory: 31 vs WIU
Conference smallest margin of victory: 10 vs NDSU

                        Total average attendance: 2,993
                        Largest Crowd: 5,354 vs USD
                        Smallest Crowd: 1,301 vs UMKC
Total average margin of victory: 21.8

Let's hope they feel right at home in the Premier Center.

It's kind of interesting to look back at the early posts in this thread. It gives you some perspective on the accomplishments this team has had so far. We lost four of our top-eight contributors from last year (including an all-time great), yet managed to come back and wrap up the #1 seed along with a guarantee that we will be playing in either the NCAA or NIT before our last game. I think I know who deserves to win the Summit Coach of the Year. The entire staff did a great job finding and assimilating new players this year. This program is really rolling along nicely.

Thanks for this but are you sure the OOC numbers are right? It is mathematically impossible to have an average crowd within 18 of the highest crowd and still have a low crowd of 1,301.
