I will add to the speculation, this question might be what is holding everything up. Everyone is waiting on a NCAA ruling in this matter.

Soderberg got a guy from New Mexico State, that mooned the Morningside fans after not having a good game and that would date back to 1992. Many of the JUCO's could never play defense except for Richardson, and then there was the red headed guy from Texas who would not play offense or defense. That was back in the D2 days. Nagy has not had good luck with transfers and prefers the raw recruits out of HS.
Beyond that there have not been any significant transfers. We are due for a good one though.

Yep. That and if the new transfer is getting a scholarship, Nady didn't have one to give until yesterday.

The rumors at first were the transfer wouldn't be getting a scholarship. Now people are saying different. Will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

At least we have something to talk about until the NBA draft.

The eligibility had not been figured out, both when he can play and how many years last I heard. The scholarship was not an issue from my source, he may get one, but that is not what is holding it up.

The NCAA rule says no, staying in Florida does not satisfy the rule, because it says must be on campus a year before being eligible, but there are 100 different ways to get an exception. There is also the 5 years to get your 4 years in rule as well. There is academic progress (so far with your degree), and other things that could be a factor (IDK, just different things that have to all be figured out before anything is official). I think the last thing SDSU wants to do is bring in a polarizing figure and then find out in 6 months he won't be able to play. There are compliance people for this though, and I'm sure they are figuring it out.

There was a luke or something from weber state I thought came here around 2000ish. Was on the team with hanson. Otherwise I am drawing a blank.

It doesn't take much knowledge to have an opinion but all these opinions are phrased with "I've heard". When a sentence starts with "I've heard, or "someone told me"...maybe the typing should stop. If the sentence starts with I know take it as credible....however it's much easier to pass something fictional on as fact when it's stated I've heard.

Here goes....I know that technically Cody Larson has 1 year of eligibility left (due to 5 year calendar rule). I know that he redshirted his freshman year at Florida and played 1 year of college basketball at Florida. I know that if he were to transfer to SDSU and play right away it would require a waiver from the NCAA. I know that if he were to play for a 3rd year it would take a waiver from the NCAA. I know that this process can not begin until said athlete is enrolled in the institution. I know that SDSU has not offered Cody Larson a scholarship. I know that said athlete has not accepted a scholarship. I know that Cody Larson is not currently enrolled at SDSU. I know that Cody Larson has a desire to play basketball at the collegiate level. I know that Cody Larson has DII offers from NSIC schools and has received interest from other DI institutions. I know that he could play right away at the DII level and play 3 years under scholarship. I know that Cody Larson took an official visit to SDSU in February. I know that he's been on campus at least one other time to watch his sister play volleyball. I don't know what he's thinking, I don't know where he's going to end up and I don't know when a decision will be made. I do know that no one on this board has any of that knowledge either.

Well said, but we can always dream. I would hope Nagy and staff are talking to Cody and others about filling this scholarship for the 2013-14 season.

The bolded is good information for those of us who do not know how or have any desire to dig through the NCAA rulebook.

On another note, if message boards were based solely upon first-hand knowledge of a situation, be it a player's recruitment, a coaching change, realignment, etc., they'd cease to exist. Twitter would spontaneously combust as well.

Additionally, by a poster stating "I've heard..." they are stating facts. The poster is stating something he personally observed by hearing it. Whether what the person heard is or is not credible is for the reader.

My signature seems to fit this situation pretty well.

Agreed. At least it is something to keep us engaged with this board and SDSU sports during the quiet time (my apologies to baseball).

TV has his live chat at 4:00 today. He's going to just love all the speculation about the newly-available scholarship!

There was a Robinson (tall post that played as a frosh at Northwestern) around that same time. I believe he only started a couple of games in his career @ SDSU.

I believe there was also a Smith from Flandreau that contributed some during the Nagy era. I think he started his career at BHSU.

Larsen's talented, but he better have a damn good mentor if he does come to the program. Kid's got off-the-court issues.

Just a couple of questions: 1) Would SDSU committ to Cody Larson if he only has one year of eligibility? Would Cody enroll at SDSU if there is the possibility that he would have only one year of eligibility? Why would either committ to each other when the NCAA states you must be enrolled before we can determine that? It seems that the NCAA is making it very difficult for both parties (Cody Larson and SDSU) to determine their future. I'm not a strong believer in hypotheticals, but in this case it seems logical and would allow the school and the student to make a wise decision.
