I'm with JimmyJack - I was seated right next to a student section and it was definitely "just like football" I thought the students were great - they had a lot of fun and personally I enjoyed their antics - especially the students at the north end working Gruis on the freethrows - that was classic! I had no problem with the "Daddy's boy" chants for Jordan Boots - it could definitely have been a lot worse! They are kids, they were well behaved kids, they had fun, nobody got hurt or harmed and they added positively to the atmosphere inside Frost. Mission accomplished.

Alright I'm not disagreeing just to disagree but I don't see why it's a big deal. If you beat the school in football and basketball and say "just like football" it's just rubbing in the beat down and talking smack about how your schools athletics is better than the other schools athletics. And if your school beats a school in football but loses in basketball and says "let's play football" which is saying ya you beat our basketball team but your football team isn't good. So I'm not sure why it's such a big deal. It's talking smack either way

I tend to agree that this whole "let's play/just like football" discussion is pretty ridiculous.

I mean really. . .WTF do people expect? Do they seriously expect college students playing a rival 1 to begin chanting "We appreciate your spirited effort! We appreciate your spirited effort!" rather than some alternative less agreeable to said rival's fans' tender ears? Yeah. That'll happen. (Actually, I'd probably collapse from a laughter-induced hypoxia if the SDSU student section actually did that some time to one of our rivals 1 .

We can all agree that we'd rather do without the profanity--random or organized--from students (and others) that get uttered during sporting events. For instance, c'mon, students! Come up with something more witty than "bullsh*t" to disagree with a ref's calls, will ya? You're in college, you're supposed to be smart. Figure something out! (I'd propose "sheep dip! sheep dip!" for a very-ag-college-oriented alternative. Just a thought.)
