A real tip of the cap to the student section. That is the first time that I've felt they were a major factor in the game in years.

Love the antics while Udot shot free throws. They were a top 6 in the country team shooting free throws coming in and only managed 50% last night.

That is what a home court advantage looks like. let's keep it up!!!

Correct. I think he had a bit of an off night, especially the first half. If you watch Big Ten basketball you will see that several of the refs that are hired for the Summit League men's tourney are regular Big Ten officials.

USD hung around but never really threatened. Jacks had wide open shots all night and made them early (first 10 mins) then starting missing or it would have been a 25-30 point win. That doesn't change the ultimate outcome. USD stuck around and covered the 16 point spread. I didn't take that action.

USD is headed in the proper direction. I was happy with the Marcus and Zach, both contributed good minutes. Prince is not 100%, its obvious, he is a liability out there right now. Lead was 14 when he entered the game in the first half, down to 5 or 6 when he left.

On to UMKC, a terrible team the we need to dominate early, use the bench, rest the starters for the stretch run. Have to have a #1 or #2 seed with our limited depth and I think we'll get it.

Agree completely with Superbunny. The students did a great job and were part of the entertaining atmosphere. This game, without the crowd, particularly the students, would have been in the ho-hum category if we measured exciting play etc. I like a lot of what the Jackrabbits did but I felt throughout the game that we can play a lot better. As others have noted: there's little question USD is going in the right direction. Youngsters Casperbauer, Flack and Bos are good. At the same time, as noted by others, how the heck did we lose to these guys earlier in the season? Perhaps part of the explanation is USD can be very inconsistent, a problem with younger players. At the same time, Coach Nagy continues to search for the reason why at times the Jackrabbits do not play consistently.

Big key in the game: Jackrabbit defense much of the time. Gruis and Myles were neutralized. Post game, Tyler M. noted Gruis and Myles account for (average) 27 pts per game for the 'Yotes. Last night, 9.

          Edited: corrected Myles name spelling.

Gruis seemed more interested in throwing elbows, pushing, and shoving than playing bb. He neutralized himself.

No kidding. If he put that effort into playing basketball the right way he would do just fine.

Students were in his head. He was constantly looking up into the student section during breaks in the action and during free throws.

His eyes should have been on the basket, seems like he missed most of his FT's.

I noticed him looking around at the students, too (which only encourages them!) and then, when he wasn't having much fun, having to look at Fiegen, Dykstra or Heemstra....you could read his mind: clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right and here I am, stuck in the middle with you.*

Here are the clowns and jokers...they were having fun and doing a great job!

First game I can remember where Nate didn't have any baskets on drives to the bucket or floaters in the lane. Of his 6 FG's, 4 were 3's, 1 was an uncontested layup and the other was via a nice pass down low. Nothing wrong with that...just hadn't seen it before

Great work, SDSU students. Kudos to you you all. Students, more than anything, are giving the Jacks a significant home-court advantage. It's great to see that tradition of student enthusiasm being re-established.

Agree with almost everything posted here.

Fans were great...Jacks were OK...good thing we started out Hot, or it could have been close.

That said, the Yotes never really threatened.

Also agree that Gruis was off his game...he was arguably their best player last year when we played them.

Also agree that USD's young guys are good. Can see where they will be tough in the future. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say not 2 years...they could be tough Next Year!

2 full houses in a row make for a great home court venue in Brookings. JackJD is in my section viewing these pics and the bison pics. Let's hope the students are ready for another game on Saturday!

The Student Sections were outstanding for the game. Gruis had a rough night but please give credit to Tony Fiegen for a big chunk of that. Tony worked hard on Gruis the whole night, grinding him down the whole night not just when the ball was near. Tony was a huge part of the Jacks success in the game. I also want to give a shout out to Mike the bus driver who picked up loads of people in the parking lot and drove us over to frost. It was a freezing cold night and he gave us a fun and warm welcome which was very appreciated! I look forward to SDSU working out a way to get the shuttles running after the games too.....

Nate had few chances to drive as the Yotes sagged one guard and brought the post out everytime he juked back and forth. Two good points about that: Nate is smart enough and good enough to step back for the 3's (4 of 5) as well as find somebody else open. Second point: That is one of the reasons we got 15 offensive boards because the Coyotes all bunched up to keep him out of the lane. Worked out just fine for us. And ditto to the kudos given to Tony Fiegen and the players who are quick to and from the double: result Bjorkland 4 points, Gruis 3 points.
