Home opener. Jacks must defend Frost arena especially in conference. It is highly unlikely that the Summit League will get 2 NCAA bids but it doesn't hurt to try. That starts with a convincing win at home against the best OOC team to play in Brookings this year. Tenn St defeated Murray St. last year and put up 20 wins. It will be a great test and the Jacks need better performances from the supporting cast to pass the test.

Prince needs to play within himself while White and Carlson need to be more aggressive and make open shots. Fiegen is steady and Nate is of course Nate. Dykstra was awesome against Bama and I hope that continues. Would like to see Heemstra used at the high post a little more. Take advantage of his excellent court vision and passing skills.

If Tenn St. has the ability I expect them to pressure the ball and get it out of Nate's hands hoping that our other guys either turn it over or rush up bad shots, exactly what got us in trouble against Bama. I wish I could make it up tonight but there is no possible way that can happen today. Tonight may be the night to subscribe to the Jackrabbit Extra. Has the video quality been acceptable? There is always WNAX.

Agree with everything you wrote with the exception of White and Carlson being aggressive. On defense, yes. But on offense I would like them to be assertive. Slight difference, but I don't have a ton of confidence either of them can press the issue offensively without making mistakes.

Tony is well on his way of becoming one of my favorite Jackrabbits of all time. Such a team player and hard worker. I have little doubt with his ability to hit mid-range that he could average 12+ per game if he had a more selfish personality.

I would like to see timely rotations tonight around media timeouts and halftime to get Nate, Jordan, and Tony breathers while giving more playing experience to the likes of Horstman and Heemstra. If possible.

Video quality has been ok. Last week for the NDSU football game it was very good. For the BHSU exhib game, it was a little choppy (might have been computer issues).

What numbers of support should we expect tonight for the game? Is 3500-4000 optimistic or too conservative? It would be great to start the year with some good noise for the Jackrabbits. There should be fewer nerves(and more confidence) displayed at Frost today. Lets go Rabbits!!

Totally agree heemstra needs to play more and step up now his 3rd year. His passing is like a secret weapon that sits on the bench to much.

I'm not happy with the video quality - I have a big monitor and honestly, the video quality is so bad I usually just watch the sports in the regular size. I've watched basketball, football and volleyball on the video feeds and they are all bad - watching the Mens basketball v BHS was horrible - I couldn't read numbers on players the quality was so bad. I would love to see the video quality improved.

As for the game tonight - I'll be sitting at my computer loving every minute! I agree that we need to get more guys into the game and that we need to be more aggressive AND assertive and take care of the ball, take good shots and reduce our turnovers. I know that we have the talent to do all of that, and I believe we have the chemistry to be something very special, we just need to shake of the early season jitters and get to work - defending our long run of wins at Frost will hopefully put a little extra sting in the boys.

No-one wants to start their season 0-2!

The four games this week, starting with tonight, provide varying contrasts and tests.
Tennessee State is a tough draw tonight. They were 20-13 last year with a signature win over South Carolina and won 12 of their last 16. They lost to BYO by 15 on the road last week. Jacks had better be ready. Tennessee State is on a road trip; plays Minnesota Thursday night.

Hofstra on Friday night, even on their court, should not be a problem. 10-22 last year, and Purdie blew them out by 29 last week.
Marshall is probably the toughest opponent this week. They are 1-1, blowing out Longwood and losing by 12 at Villanova. They were 21-14 last year and made it to the championship game of the Conference USA tournament. They beat Cincinnati last year. This would be a good win on a neutral court.

Am not sure why University of the District of Columbia is in that Hofstra Classic. UDC is a D-II team that perpetually goes through new rosters. They have two kids from Egypt and one from France on this year's roster, but they do have some players. One Egyptian, Ziad Ashmaya, is a 6-6 forward averaging 11 a game. They also have a transfer guard from Boston University leading the team in scoring. UDC lost by 20 to Villanova but eked out a win against the University of the Sciences (another D-II school based in Philadelphia)...
I saw USD play UDC about 10 years ago in UDC's gym, and there were not 100 people at the game - almost all of them USD parents or alum living in the DC area. The U blew them out but UDC had only seven players. Maybe the Jacks are playing them because they, too, are a land-grant university - one of the rare urban land grants. Maybe the bench can get some valuable PT here and hope the Jacks are 3-1 by tipoff time on Sunday.

I always compare it to standard definition TV, maybe a little worse than that. I blow mine up on a 40+ inch TV and I can always tell what's going on. You're right, you usually can't see numbers, but you can see the ball and players. This has been my experience with pretty much all college sports feeds (I buy all away games that are available as well). The exception would be the NCAA tournament. The SIU and Kansas football feeds were the same quality.

If a person compares the feed to Netflix, YouTube, or HD TV, it is bad video quality. If you compare it to not watching at all, its pretty good.

I think what JackMD was asking about was the connection problems that plagued the system a few years ago. It was a real gamble buying games back then as you might not even get the feed at all. I don't think I've had that problem on any system for a few years.

Edit: Maybe I've just adjusted to the poor quality

it is broadcast in poor standard def. I think TV said HD was coming next year. and it all depends I think on the internet speed your getting. but for as long as JumpTV and now Neulion have been around you would think they would have the bugs worked out in their systems. issues I have had are skips, you know broadcast-no broadcast-broadcast starts again where it left off, constant rebuffering to total loss of broadcast. one game I was watching other teams video on Chrome and listening to TM on IE. TM was about a minute behind the video and as the game progressed by the time it ended TM was a minute ahead of the video. for the money we pay we deserve better.

The video quality seemed to be especially bad for that BHSU game. Maybe I just forgot how bad it was during the off-season.

In addtion to some scoring outside of Wolters/Dykstra, I'd like to see a little more of the bench tonight. We are going to need a rotation of more than 7 players with all the games coming up in the next week.

Hope to see Bittle get on the court if they are going to use him this year. Also Heemstra needs to contribute on a regular basis. is Zach able to play? I thought he had a bad back, like almost needing to redshirt that bad or maybe i am mistaken. Figured he would make a good jump to his soph year......see what I did their.

I have no complaints with video,i don't have high definition tv because my 50" old tv refuses to die.My only complaint is that there were only a couple of videos available for reviewing(full game replays) during the season, they only added them late,to appease to a certain extent the "complainers".If they're going to downgrade paid subscriptions to only live events, they shouldn't claim"on demand video and audio streams, and full game replays" on their subscription page. The years before, they had every home game archived for future viewing available.I think their subscription service is slipping a little bit.Just an observation.

Sounded like Zach has back problems, but he intends to play through at this time. He is also keyed more at the 4 spot at this time. Redshirt is not his intention at this time. I would guess fans and the coaching staff want all these guys to be instumental in the program. I am always excited to see the entire team get hot and p[lay inspired.
