    Re: Selection Sunday: The Thread

goon, the weak non-conference schedule was the reason Mizzou got the low 2 seed. Nevertheless, the CBS analysts were predicting a Final Four run for the Tigers.

Point of clarification. The slavers did not win the Big 12. They won the Big 12 Tournament.

Also, their OOC strength of schedule was in the 300s.

Not trying to offend but you're wrong. If you look at the criteria the committee uses the conference tourney means very little to the teams seeded the highest. If you're projected to be a #1-4 seed before the conf tourney and you don't lose before the semifinal your seed is very unlikely to change except in as instance like MSU vs OSU. Mizzou's only chance to be a #1 was an even early exit by Kansas, MSU and OSU. Mizzou played NOBODY out of conference and the committee hates that. When they lost back to back to KState and KU they gave up control of their destiny and despite winning out not enough of the other 1 seed candidates had bad enough losses.

          Re: Selection Sunday: The Thread

I didn't have a huge problem with the 14 seed until they put ORU as one of the last 6 teams out, and then from all reports they were either the last team out, or there was going to be a vote between them and Drexel for the last team in if St. Bonnies loses like they should have.

If that is the case, you are telling me that a league that gets 2 bids, and the league runner up and tourney champ is a 14 seed? and the lowest 14 seed? That is where I thought they screwed up. Yes RPI can be manipulated, but common sense can't be.

According to Awful Announcing, you'll need TruTV in order to watch SDSU on Thursday.

I'm an optimist,if we can win the first game,we surely should be able to get to the sweet sixteen (beating a 6 seed or a 11 seed).Have to run into the high seeded teams eventually.Don't like having to play them the first round though.

                          Re: Selection Sunday: The Thread

Just noticed our old buddy Doug Fullerton, Big Sky Conference Commissioner, was one of the ten members of the selection committee. I imagine that didn't help matters when you look at Montana (a team that is 25 spots lower than us in RPI, 12 spots lower than us in BPI, with a weaker strength of schedule, and from a conference that is 10 spots weaker in RPI) getting a 13 seed compared to our 14 and playing in the exact same location as us on Thursday. Stupid.

What drives me even more crazy, listening to the committee talk on one of the bracket shows, they stress how they take 3-4 days this past week to specifically look at the 12-16 seeds as those low major conference tourneys wrap up because they know the seed means so much to those schools and the one bid conferences...and they still get it wrong. Pathetic.

Not offened at all. 4 losses is 4 losses. I feel its hard for most teams to go with only 4 losses. I'f I recall there were only 3 teams with fewer losses. Sos is important and rpi is important but winning games imho is imprtant too and they were better at it then mich state I feel. One could argue the big 12 was much better the the usuallt overrated big 10. I am not a mizzu fan but feel what they did was better then mich state.

RPI isn't as important as people think. Politics, longevity in tournament, past performance, familiarity with schools is more important. It's SDSU first dance....given more opportunities down the road they will get respect. Montana's been there plenty of times before and it's not Coach Tinkles first dance. That plays more in the seeding than RPI. Besides, Washington is SDSU's biggest victory of the year from a poor BCS Conference. That didn't help matters much.
