Ten players you may not know - Rant Sports

Bleacher Report - yet more fascination with the Jackrabbit name.
    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...is-years-field

    From AmericanPress.com:
"The [Baylor} Bears may be in trouble, too. They get South Dakota as a 14th seed in the opener, and I’m pretty sure the NCAA would love to see the Jackrabbits advance to the second round for a projected game against the Runnin’ Rebels of UNLV."

    SB Nation Seattle:
"Not picking South Dakota State in this game is unbelievably difficult; they are the Jackrabbits! That is just tremendous. But I have a responsibility not to lead you astray, as every other prediction in this post has surely demonstrated."

    Collegehoopsnet.com
"Guards you'll love: C.J. McCollum (Lehigh) and Nate Wolters (South Dakota
State). Both are among the nation's best scorers, and Wolters leads the
Jackrabbits in points, rebounds and assists. Each one has a matchup in which
they could become household names, with McCollum taking on Duke and Wolters
    matching up with Baylor. "

To think Nagy had given up on Wolters so completely just makes the fact that SDSU still snagged him even harder to digest.

This has been discussed to death over on the probably-never-read-anymore-by-Jackrabbit-fans D2 Message Board, but, like I said, it kills me as an Augie fan every time I see yet ANOTHER D1 analyst talking about how complete a player Nate is and how bright his future is. Obviously I wish him no ill will or anything at ALL like that, as he seems like a great kid and has earned every ounce of praise he receives. It's just hard not to imagine what life would've been like as an Augie fan with him and Cody Schilling side-by-side for three years.

          Re: March Madness SDSU Articles

The fact is, our coaches knew Nate had D1 talent and that's why they went after him early (and Hansen stuck with him). Apparently Nate was a little unsure but Hansen and Nagy must have convinced him to come on board.

Fair enough. Although from what I've heard/read, it seems he pretty much had it narrowed down to SDSU/Augie at the very end. But yeah, really any team/program in this area who missed out on him probably isn't too thrilled. The fact that he's spent 3 years playing against NDSU and will do so for one more year probably isn't all that fun for NDSU fans either.

According to the first article, conference RPI does not come into account when making selections. LOL!

Still no explanation about how the hell Montana is a 13 and we are a 14. I think Doug Fullerton might know the answer.

And if you believe that conference isn't a factor, I've got a two bridges, some oceanfront property in Haakon County, and about thirty recently discovered original Picassos to sell you.

It might not be there for too long, but I just opened up the main yahoo sports web page (http://sports.yahoo.com/) and a single photo was shown with their NCAA tourney section. One player's face appeared in that photo, representing the 64 teams. It was Nate Wolters. This was at 4:00 PM.

Below the photo it said, "Baylor should beware: No. 14 seed South Dakota State could provide an upset Thursday."

They discuss the game right away in the video at this link: http://rivals.yahoo.com/video/colleg...FuqJSuJJY5nYcB Greg anthony names the Jacks as his "upset special".

Not going to lie, I kind of like all this national attention and despite Nate getting a lot of national recognition he seems like the type of guy that would shrug it off and not get to his head and be like "O, time to go to the gym."

                            Bob Ryan:

I say beware of South Dakota State, a team with a definable style, a team that has broken 80 on 15 occasions and 90 on nine, and a team that has a dangerous player in 6-4 guard Nate Wolters, who averages 21 points and six assists a game. And, really, how can you not root for South Dakota State?
