I thought they were playing at the weirdest times, when the crowd was really getting into it. So I will blame tournament officials.

There are much more important things to discuss than some year old story, especially since Stu has admitted he was wrong. Bag on Stu when he deserves it, not when he has been complimentary of the program. After all, it is the school to the south that holds onto things from the past. SDSU fans look to the future. And our future is on Selection Sunday. Man, it still makes my hands shake a bit writing that...

Just to add....opend up the register paper to read about my Alma Mater...sure enough there is a pick of Nagy's son attacking the basket. Good night for the family? Too bad they had to be apart for it.

Now to address another travesty why is the Brookings Gym still named after Jostad? It needs to be changed to Bill Gibbons Gymnasium. Jostad did little to nothing for the students or athletes. Gibbons influenced generations: Gosh or Gee Bobcats! <End useless rant>

Ha! I hear you on that one. Went home and watched the replays of the games on the DVR. Ironically, drifted off with about 10 minutes to go in the men's (watched it last). One minute I'm jacked up today and then the next I'm just shot. Never been so emotionally drained after a sporting event in my life (that I wasn't on the field). Those were two incredible finishes.

Biggest day in SDSU Athletic history!

Nick is apparently the oldest son of Coach Nagy. He seems to have had a better career at WR in football. Some of my fellow BHS alums who attend the games seem to think, Tyler a year younger has more talent than his older brother. I glad to see BHS make it to the state tourney and happy also for the Nagy boys Whether Dad will take a chance on them remains to be seen.

To your other concern, about the naming of the Gym. Jostad was a classmate in some of my political science and econ courses during the early 1960's. He seemed like a good guy then and apparently he had an influence on some students. Otherwise he would not have gotten the gym named after him. It is political though. Some still question the naming of the middle school after the late Gov. Michelson, who my opinion is deserving.

Now Harry Bill Gibbons came to BHS in my senior 1958-59 and turned the football program around. Lost maybe two games to the usual ESD powers, Mitchell and Yankton and he used to joke about having to teach government classes as something for him to do in the off season.
At our 50th class reunion Harry Bill was the only faculty member living in the Brookings area. He remember us all quite well and he told us how scared he was that year. His major at SDSU had been Chemistry and Physics and that is what he taught at Gregory HS before coming to Brookings. Switching to teaching social science was a quatum leap, but we never knew about his worries that first year. He did mention that he was used to teaching chemistry but with Guy O Karnes another gifted teacher there was no chance that he would be teaching chemistry at BHS.

Harry in my opinion deserves something to be named after him. He is quite the guy.

Someone impersonating you Alum08 over on Bisonville? Embarrased Really? I have never been more proud of this program!

"Great post Burg. You touched on everything I was thinking. I'm still embarrassed right now after that game. I had friends texting me about how bad Wolters and SDSU looked. Well, they were right. Worst game of the year and luckily Western Illinois is so bad that SDSU still could pull it off. I also thought about the tournament seed and I really hope they get the #13 seed. Playing a #3 will be too much for SDSU. They need a matchup against a team like Wisconsin, etc.

I thought the game was terrible to watch and basically embarrassed the league a bit. They need a better showing in the NCAA and so does the league. It would be great if they could finally get a win

Yes, I agree with everything I posted there. I'm such a big basketball guy that I wanted more from the team because I knew they had in it them. It wasn't a good showing by SDSU and I think you can agree with that. National stage and everything, they looked bad. I'm more excited for getting the win as any fan out there but I just wish they could have exploded onto the scene with a big blowout win. I hope the game doesn't effect their seeding in the NCAA tourney. For me, it didn't seem as great as it could have been. It seemed Bob Valvano felt the same during the broadcast as well as I don't think he came away as impressed as the previous game.

Now am I happy as hell they won? Absolutely! This is fantastic, but I just wanted more. The truth is that a win in the NCAA tourney would mean everything and more than a good showing in the championship game. That's what really counts and I'll take that.

Re: Biggest day in South Dakota sports history?

ESPNU used the USD logo for us when they were talking about the Jacks making the tournament in the Weber State/Montana game. GROSS!

Still got some work to do on the name (logo) recognition.
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.

I fired off an e-mail to them. I didn't even call them any bad names.

I just emailed them, too. Don't know if it will do any good - but we deserve better.

(I should have insisted they spend as much time talking about us tomorrow - as they did with Peyton today. Dangit!)

Hopefully that was our yack game we were due for ala USD. I'd rather play well in the NCAA's when the whole country is watching. We've shown a knack for following up games like that in a good way, hopefully that continues next week!
