Re: Biggest day in South Dakota sports history?

Big day in Brookings as a whole for athletics. Jacks women and men are dancing, and the Brookings boys basketball team returns to the state tournament for the first time since 1999.

The Register's sports section on Wednesday might be larger than the main section of the paper!

There were many that wanted a change in the head coach position, many that said you couldn't get it done with local talent, many that felt that SDSU going D1 was a mistake. Just a simple question....anyone care to change anything tonight?
I also believed in Nagy. Too many things happened out of his control that led to the rough times. He turned this ship around.

Name a bigger day in South Dakota sports history. Making the big dance in basketball leads to more exposure than you can shake a stick at. We had two teams do it TODAY!

GREAT DAY TO BE A JACKRABBIT!

I've been a Jacks basketball fan since I was 7 when I had to go to bed at 8 o'clock and could only listen to WNAX..... caught a ton of games growing up

Oh yeah. And Stu Whitney is an a**hole. If you don't believe me, go back and read TV's live chat. Had to get his shot in about Oien via twitter.

The sports editor of the state's biggest newspaper has no business doing that. None.

What could beat two D-1 conference tourney championships and auto-bids (earned in South Dakota, by teams from South Dakota) to the biggest national collegiate event in American sports? A future Super Bowl victory by a South Dakota-based NFL fanchise, perhaps. That's about it.

Re: Biggest day in South Dakota sports history?

So I was in the cities on a Dr. visit for my 9 month old on monday and tuesday. When I stay at hotels, I have a habit of jumping on the complimentary computer in the lobby and going to two sites, sdsufan.com/board and gojacks.com, just so they are loaded into the address bar and if anyone clicks they are exposed to the name.

Also, in the physical therapist room we were in yesterday, there was one of those magnetic writing toys for kids, so naturally as a 31 year old man, I felt inclined to write on there "South Dakota State University Jackrabbits". Whoever went in the room next has been exposed. Doin' my part to spread the word!

If you feel the way I feel about South Dakota, I may live in Michigan and pay taxes here, but I will always be a South Dakotan first no matter where I live.

I cannot agree more. Wisconsin is my address, but I am a South Dakotan and a Jackrabbit. Seeing the interviews with Sell and Chicoine, they expressed the pride for the state of South Dakota, not just SDSU.

I wish we had the small SD flag on the uniforms and helmets (similar to Texas)

                        Yep.

A good day to be a South Dakotan. Congratulations Jacks.

He typed a comment about how some one in the crowd should be holding a face card of Fred Oien. He might have been giving him a compliement for the progress that started under his directorship, but who knows about Stu. So far he been compliementary to the Jacks for winning both tourneys.

6 wins in front of 6 big crowds. Two overtime thriller title game wins on national TV. How many new Jackrabbit fans were "born" over the past 4 days? How many more will be added over the next 8-10 days of next-level coverage? This is a big deal.
