Here is another nit projection website...

They have us as a 3 seed which means we would play UMASS, Stanford, Cleveland State, or UCLA

Wow, that is some exciting speculation. If we just win these last 2 home games it looks like we should have a very impressive NIT "backup plan". Sure, sure, we all agree that the Dance is the way to go, but if you are going to miss out on that, this would be pretty damn good. Winning 24+ games gives you some nice options.

If a major school ever plays at Frost Arena, I hope the Athletic Department give Stu some sort of award at halftime.

Call it the "Foresight in Journalism Award"

His ego wouldn't be able to turn down an award. Showing up would be the same as admitting he was wrong about going DI.

The only thing better would be if someday Michigan State had to play at Frost.

I would guess that you don't find out your opponent until after you accept the bid. They wouldn't make out the brackets until they fill out the entire field.

The real question for the NIT is do they give home games to the high bidders or is it done by rankings. SDSU won't be hosting a game if it comes down to a bidding war. If it's done by rankings, they'll have a really nice shot at hosting a game (or two).

Higher seeds get home games unless for some reason they can't host.

Stu is nothing other than a bad luck charm for our Men's team. If there were a way to get him out of Sioux Falls for the Summit League tournament, I would invest my retirement fortune. (Unfortunately, that may only get him as far as East Lansing - but perhaps there is merit in that line of thinking.....)

I know that the Administration/Athletic Department did a nice job with the Women's NIT the first two years that we hosted. I would think that should weigh in our favor if we are relegated to the NIT. My only fear is that 6000 seats may not be the financial "windfall" that they are used to - I don't know. Anyone know (er, want to research!) what the first round games averaged for attendance in the NIT the last few years?

Don't know about attendance, but was reading through the NCAA's NIT site prep material today, and there's a minimum $4 ticket charge for students. Just sayin' . . .

Damn. Students are cheap too. I'd shill out $4 but I think that might affect attendance a little. But if it was a big name, I'd say it would probably be negligible and students would show up in force.

                        Consider:

                        - Nagy is the front-runner for coach of the year.

                        - There's a strong likelihood that SDSU will either make the NCAA tournament or host a NameBrand® school at Frost during the NIT

                        - SDSU has to be the preseason #1 pick next year.

                        - Wolters is undoubtedly going to be the 2012/13 preseason player of the year.

In just over one recruiting cycle, Nagy & SDSU have gone from 10th to preseason favorites.

I don't see it affecting attendance too much, but I think I have heard of some schools finding a sponsor to purchase tickets so the students can still get in free. This could definitely be something I daydreamed, but it seems like I have heard it before.

Students had to pay for WNIT tickets too. Those games were PACKED. Pitt (or anybody for that matter) comes to Frost for the NIT, the place will sell out. We didn't exactly play big names in the WNIT.

Illinois State, Indiana and Creighton. That's two big names right there. Or at least one.
