We are all hoping the Jacks run the table in Sioux Falls and make the Big Dance. But if they don't,they are getting some love at nitology.com. They predict the Jacks to be a #2 seed, playing #7 Pitt in the first round. That's one way to get a Big East team into Frost !

Pitt at a sold out Frost Arena. Potential matchup with Tubby and the Gophs or New Mexico St. at a sold out Frost Arena. Wow.
I know these are just projections, so this may not be the case, but hypothetical question: Would this scenario be potentailly better for the program, player experience, and fan experience than a 1 and done showing in the NCAA's in a regional out west or out east?"I'd like to thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee." - Joe D.

Re: Jacks Getting Some Respect
Best case scenario for this year (for SDSU and the Summit League, anyway; not necessarily for Oral Roberts):
SDSU wins the automatic bid, ORU sneaks in with an at-large somehow (yeah, yeah, I know, slim-to-none) and one or both pull off a first-round upset. That gives three or four NCAA tournament "units" to the Summit (instead of just the one the Summit gets for the single automatic qualifier) for the next six years. (And, adding further insult to injury, ORU would have to leave its unit(s) with the Summit since the units are paid to the conference, not the school).
Since an NCAA men's tournament unit is worth around $220,000 (or, in a nine-team league, about $24,400 per school per unit) that would represent a nice little going away present for the Summit from ORU, I think.
(According to this NYT article, an NIT unit is $14,000).
But the prospect of an extra home game or two for SDSU in the NIT isn't too bad, as consolation prizes go, I guess. But why not dream big?"I think we'll be OK"

Re: Jacks Getting Some Respect
Not to be a party-pooper, but since ORU won the regular season title, wouldn't that make us ineligible for the NIT? I thought the rules were that the NIT would only take regular-season champions that don't make the Big Dance. Or am I mistaken?I am Ed. Fear me.

SDSU's RPI as of today is 61 so the Jacks are definitely in the mix for the NIT they don't win the Summit League tournament (if they don't stub their toes, that is)."I think we'll be OK"
