Coyotes did what they had to do at home.

Also, Brayden and Nagy said this in the postgame that they didn't have good practices all week so theywas saying essentially that they were expecting this to happen? The context just sounded like that. How do they not get up for the USD game???? Truly baffling.
I view this game like how I need to go to the dentist. I hate going to the denist dont really get anything out of it but a little pain and waste of time, but in the long run its a nessiscary evil. USD wanted this game more then we did, but in the big picture, they only won by 4 AND we have been struggling lately. thats concerns me more then losing to USD. I predicted the men would win but thought the USD women would beat us. they are decent and tought at home, Lets hope the women get a win at UMKC and get the win in verm town.

I'm over it. Stuff happens. I like this year's Jackrabbits a lot and I'm confident we'll be battling for the Summit League title and a shot at the Big Dance. USD had a nice effort tonight and we had some problems but the problems I saw are all addressable. (Problems I've seen with some other teams cannot be fixed.)

This win for USD will be a bright spot in a dismal season for the Coyotes AND we all know that USD's program will improve and they'll be a valuable member of the Summit League. After all, that's what we've been talking about: all teams in the League increasing the value of the basketball stock so that in the near future the League has a shot at not just one in the NCAA Tourney, but also a second entrant as an 'at-large' team.

Enjoy it, USD fans -- game on!

The way I look at it was USD played their game to perfection and SDSU played like crap for 30+ minutes and still had a chance to win the game. I had a bad feeling about the game, I just felt like if USD got hot early they would win, and they did. Jordan didn't look 100%, Nate didn't either in the first half. The team was front ending wide open 3's, 3's that they knock down more times then not. I don't know if it was site lines or not, but it looked like energy period. The first 10-12 minutes the only 2 that looked somewhat alive were Chad and Tony.

USD fans can celebrate, but like Sargent tweeted if the Jacks win 3 in a row in Sioux Falls in March no one will give a damn about this game.

I did learn 1 thing though, the Dome is a horrible place to watch basketball. Also really surprised in the turnout. I thought more would show up.

Yeah there is a reason its called the dump. The more I think about it the more I think usd knows they got lucky and got away with it. Like some one else said we win 9 times out of 10. This was that one game. The last 10 minutes of the game hopefully carries over to saturday.
Except for the missing rebounds and fts. I mean the effort and 3s falling.

I am amazed with the comeback. I had written the game off at half time. Maybe practice did not go well, but we still have a great bunch of guys who need our support to have a successful season.

Not mathematically but with a 3 game lead and 4 games to play, i think we will be just fine. The last 3 games at home, i think we will be just fine. We also havent lost two in a row since games 2 and 3 against the Gophers and Georgia. And have won at least 3 in a row after each loss. I think we will be just fine. Just keep saying that and we will be just fine.

To answer your previous question, no I'm not going to freak out.....but I have to admit this little comment doesn't make me feel better about things. We had a deer in headlights look during the second half in ORU also. Championship teams don't look scared or tentative during bad stretches, they look pissed off because they know they can do better. I hope we can figure that part out before SF.

As for running into hot teams and hot shooting nights, our conference has Frank Gaines, Dominique Morrison, Alex Young, Reggie Hamilton.....all top 25 scorers in Division I. There is a whole list of other players in our league who can go off at anytime ala Bader. In a three game stretch in Sioux Falls we are going to run into a hot shooter somewhere along the line. We need to figure out our confidence before then. Swagger shouldn't come just because you are shooting over 50% from beyond three, it needs to come because you are playing stifling defense and the other player is getting frustrated.....just like what happened to Dominique Morrison in Brookings. End of rant thanks for reading.

I kinda figured after the SUU win that the Jacks were going to lose this game. they have a pattern going on wins and losses since the season started two win two losses. three wins then lose, five wins then lose, four wins then lose, three wins-lose one, three wins-lose one, this was the lose one game in the pattern. luckily the women don't have a pattern except win. as bad as this game was they did not give up. also from what was said on TV's blog the Jacks apparantly did not have a shoot around at the dome. why go into a place where you have never played and not get used to the floor and sight lines, backdrop for the baskets? From the sounds of it the Jacks never did find the range.

That is correct. They did not arrive in time to do a shoot around. Great decision...

College teams do not decide to forgo a shoot around. There has to have been extenuating circumstances that prevented it. I know ORU was very concerned about shooting in that dome. They were not crazy about the shooting background and the cavernous feel.

It's a long conference schedule and everyone lays an egg at least once. The Summit League always comes down to three games in Sioux Falls. The winner of the ORU/SDSU rubber match will be dancing and the loser will be headed for the NIT.

I heard Fran Fraschilla once say that every college basketball team plays three games in their season where they play just totally out of this world, and three games where they are just awful, and all the rest of the games are a true reflection of the team's actual skills and abilities.

This was one of the three awful ones for the Jacks, I guess.

I think sometimes Nagy works TOO hard at downplaying the emotions of the game. And especially with the team that he has this year, getting too "up" is probably not an enormous problem.

This pretty much sums it up for me. I'm still numb this morning from it. Just so disappointed in how we played. Sure, the loss is dissapointing but if we played okay it would feel different. Hats off to USD for putting up a great effort and playing above their level. They were the better team last night. Yeah, I just threw up in my mouth a bit right there.

Haven't even looked through the thread. Not going to beat my head against that wall.

They need to rebound with a win at UMKC. THAT IS HUGE! Get rid of this right away! Then essentially all that is left is home games.

These guys still have a tremendous opportunity!

Bad loss made worse by the fact that USD beat us. Jacks were way out of sync early on and that can be attributed to several things. I think the biggest factor was USD's offense. They controlled pace and made big shots which slowed us down. The fact SDSU couldn't hit an open shot contributed almost as much. USD's defense was not significantly better on the perimeter than it was in Brookings. I thought they did a better job in the paint.

SDSU is going to be okay but can't afford another performance like last night. Has fate would have it NDSU lost as well and SDSU's seeding position remains clearly in SDSU's control. Again, really a bad loss and several unanswered questions that will be forgotten about if SDSU bounces back and drills UMKC tomorrow. I think it was a fluke and not an indicator of any major flaws.

                                It's too late to panic.
