Good win, I thought IPFW lost any chance they had early in the game when SDSU was turning it over and taking bad shots, yet IPFW couldn't score period. I think the Bracketbustt game will be interesting hope SDSU gets a nationally televised game, but I also hope they play a beneficial opponent.

I'd also advise fans to show up at support the team Thursday if possible. Prolly the biggest game Frost has seen on the Men's side since the D-II days. I'm going to try to make it.

I think supporting these type of games in person will do a few things, it will help those who say USD is not a rival or main rival, because the place was packed for them and they aren't near as good. It will also support the team that is 17-6 and 2nd place in the Summit. I also believe that supporting these type of games will make the AD's office more likely to put these type of games on TV in the future.

IMO, we played completely average, even though we blew them out. We've got some issues to address if we want to be contenders come tourney time.

As absurd as it may sound, Nate needs to play better. If he can't hit the 3, he won't be able to drive due to people playing off him. If he can't do those two things, our offense becomes stagnant.

White and Carlson (not a DI player?!?!) played well tonight.

Imo white and carlson forgot to show up in oakland. Them getting a few more shots and buckets would have been huge. Take pressure off of the big 3. This was good considering we played to very hard and draining games the last 2 on the road with this team beating one we had to beat in ot. I just think we match up to the dead elepants well this year. Unlike a few years ago the macthed up in a way that was tough for us. Yeah nates 3 point shooting is awful. If he shot well like last year he would be avg probably over 30 a game this year. Probably a little worn out from playing so many minutes. Would be nice to get him a little rest on occasion.

                    Only 28 minutes, tonight. That's a start.

Didn't catch any of the game, very glad to hop on and and see we blew the doors off a team that we should've blown the doors off of.

I could be mistaken, but against Oakland I think Carlson guarded Hamilton most of the game, he had about 7 points with 6 minutes to go. White had 8 points, 2 rebounds, and an assist in 18 minutes. I would say they showed up just fine.

Wolters is huge for us, no doubt about it. But pinning the Oakland game on Carlson and White is a low blow, IMO. If we are relying on a defensive stopper and 6th man to provide the offense to win, we have a long road ahead. We were ahead 78-75 with 3:47 to go. Wolters missed a free throw, made a free throw, missed a jumper, and missed 2 more free throws and we were down 81-79 with 1.5 minutes to go.

I am not banging on Wolters whatsoever, but for us to advance in the tournament, he has to be a 3 point threat. What concerns me after watching tonight is that he seemed to be passing on open 3 point looks, and IPFW was almost daring him to shoot it. It's only a matter of time before teams start sagging off him, which will screw up his dribble drive-and everything else about our offense. I'm glad that he only played 28 minutes tonight, hopefully the extra rest will help improve his outside game.

The problem at Oakland wasn't on the offensive end. The problem was letting Bader get some open looks early, which led to a career night.

Just to bring home your point about Carlson, I'll correct you, in that Hamilton had 3 points with 5 minutes to go.

Bader was something like 10-14 on his three point attempts this year. this was an all time high for makes in a game for Oakland. Last year Bader was 5-10 from three, his career best until thursday. this guy just seems to have his best games against the Jacks when they are at the O'rena. the way he was running around using picks no one could have stayed with him. Griff tried in the second but...

I assume Sturgis was one of the paid butts in the seats at this game, and I trust what he is saying. When you have a good shooter like Bader you run your offense around him and the picks that are set for him. Bader is appparently some what similiar to Kangas who also got his threes against the Jacks. There is no need to knock Carlson and his defense when about 4 guys are busy clugging up the lanes with picks and what have you. As someone mentioned we held Hamiliton to 3 until late and that made a differnce. There were so many missed shots by Carlson, Wolters and Griff which I think won the game for Oakland. I got to spread the rep pts, but thanks for sharing your observations of the game.
