My honest take on usd. Gruis is their best player. Only one who could create a shot on his own even with some good D could put it in the basket. Krogman just a pure 2 guard shooter. To short or slow for D1. Westbrook looked lost but athletic. Boots is like a mini close of krogman just doesn't shoot as well. Their zone stunk. Honestly looked like we didn't have to try. Didn't really see much hussel from usd over all. Felt like they were shell shocked some how. All that said it looked easy tonight and I didn't think we really played that well. We had a few times not sure how to move through the zone but we were much better at creating shots when we need to. Also usd really did not have any bench guys what so ever imo. Krogman struggled trying to create his shot. If anyone has it recorded watch the game to see how many times westbrook and krogman once they get the ball try to create on their own with no screens or passing and just force a shot. I think usd would be better running the ball through nimrod and work some screen to get krogman open. If he can set to shoot he is deadly but not athletic enough to create his own shots.

USD wanted to take the crowd out of the game. Mission accomplished. We were all pretty flat and relatively quiet by the time the 2nd half started! 605!

        That was a fun night.

Was there..... I thought Gruis played alright for them. I thought Louie played alright but their lack of a true point guard hurts him. Westbrook reminded me of J.R. Smith, a guy with a lot of talent that likes to throw up contested threes with plenty of time on the shot clock. I don't know if it was something the coaches saw on film or what, but they couldn't handle a double team to save their lives, numerous times there was a wide open player but they either turned it over or threw up a three.

I didn't think SDSU played great though, they missed numerous wide open shots, seemed passive in the offense and yet they were winning by 30 points. I thought their defense played really well, and they rebounded pretty well, especially early with a few that allowed the Jacks to build up a lead early.

The difference in talent between the teams seemed pretty obvious to me. That thing was over in the first 8-10 minutes and the second half was cruise control. Plus, we didn't even play that well. I thought Gruis was decent. Our D on the perimeter, especially in the first half was pretty good. No offense to Coach Boots because I think he's a good coach, but his son has absolutely no business playing D I basketball.Hard to stay interested in the game in the second half.

Jordan Boots plays at USD for one reason- his dad. I watched him in high school. I didn't think he would be able to see minutes at DWU, yet USD. I'm actually surprised he has developed into as well of a player as he has.

The question I have with (coach) Boots, for the USD faithful or those who have watched USD play. Does he usually sit on the bench and say very little during the game and let his 1 assistant do all the yelling and play calling? It just looked like he was uninterested but I was sitting by a guy who has been to a few USD games and says that is how he has been coaching as of late.

Are you kidding? Boots looked liked one the better players on their team tonight. While he's obviously not great player he is a decent role player.

Edit: I didn't read the rest of your post. I'll blame it on my iPod or something. My bad.

I felt he was to short not athletic enough and an avg ball handler below avg shot. Andriotti gave gooe hustle rebounding. Saint gelais, not sure if it was just a bad game for him but frankly he looked bad imo. I would have liked to see the zachs get in in the first to be a part of the game with the starters. Prince battle down low really well.

Did boots call any time outs in thw second half? I felt like they were wasting a lot of coachable moments. Not even to win the game but learn something from it and go forward.

All of the hype over Gruis and Dykstra, Gruis gets my vote as the better player. He played 38 plus minutes. Dykstra, Hmmm not 38. Why? Did he do an awesome job defending Gruis? Absoultely not. Nor did anyone else. I believe they rotated people in and out on Gruis. No they do not play the same position so it's not comparing apple to apples, but I would rather have Gruis on my team any day. They pulled Gruis' scholly because Dykstra was available. Do they really need another 3 point shooter?

I keep hearing that USD is young, but are they? Westbrook and Krogman are seniors, the guy from France is a junior, the guy from Brazil is a senior, and Boots is a junior. That is 5 of the 8 guys that saw solid minutes.

I think Nimmrod Hillard IV will be a solid player, but the little Bos played he didn't impress me much. Bartling played 1 minute, made a foul and cried to the ref. And the recruits they have committed don't impress me as far as I can tell. However I will concede that it only takes 1-2 guys to turn a program around. Maybe I'm not seeing it all, maybe the Yote failful can chime in, but are they young? Do they have some bright future players?

SDSU may have had a rough transition but they did knock off ORU in their first Summit League tourney game, do you see USD in a position to knock off a top 2-3 team next year at the tournament?

I'd rather have Dykstra any day of the week then Gruis. Gruis is a solid player and I'd love for him to be a rabbit, but when a guy like Dykstra comes around you get him. Why didn't Dykstra play 38 minutes? Prolly cause they were up 30 at the half. Dykstra is a 3/4 playing the 5 position because no one else on the team can. Look at some of the moves Dykstra can make, he has a smooth fade away, and is improving on his defense and rebounding.

Plus its over so I really don't give a rats behind, but I believe in recruiting players not positions and Dykstra is a better player.

Grius a better post plsyer. Dkstyra a better shooter ball handler better passer. I would say rebound edge gruis but frankly usd would love a guy like dykstra and sdsu could sure use a gruis type but I don't think either program would be willing to switch. If dykstra shhots the 3 like he normally does he ends up with 15 points easy.

It was Westbrook. He entered his name into the draft but didnt hire an agent so he could come back. I found it on this website:http://hoopshype.com/rumors/tag/charlie_westbrook

This is Mick Garrys article in the Argus. If i read it right, hes saying there were 1100 USD fans there? Or maybe im reading it wrong. Maybe a couple hundred at most.
