Nate has meetings with 6 teams tonight at the NBA combine in Chicago. This according to @alexkennedynba

Tweet from @alexkennedynba: Nate Wolters is meeting with six NBA teams tonight. Six teams on the first night of the combine means there's a lot of interest in him.

Nate has a combine maximum 18 interviews/meetings with NBA teams. This according to Steve Kyler @stevekylernba

Tweet from @stevekylernba: a number of players have very full dance cards with nba teams.... Nate Wolters has max 18 interviews, thats impressive

Wonder how many pro teams will try to "steal" a player?Teams that are really interested ,but,in the grand scheme of their drafting order are willing to gamble that he'll still be around for the late draft spot they have reserved for him.Probably alot, since they all try and optimize their draft for the year. It's less of a gamble for late picks than it is for the earlier rounds.Jeremy Lin comes to mind as a case where a NBA caliber player just about didn't make it into the NBA.Maybe his case is lesson learned.

One of the ESPN commentators---possibly the same one who name-checked 'SAN DIEGO STATE JACKRABBITS'---was talking about how Wolters' speed is an issue.

On screen, Wolters pulls a nifty move, freezes Kabongo, and blows by him for a layup.

Yeah. His *speed* is an issue.

In an effort to make a recovery, one of the commentators, on the replay, says, "Well, Kabongo isn't noted for his defense."

                    ....

Sheesh. The NBA is littered with players that have 'athleticism' and haven't the discipline to take advantage of it. Wouldn't you rather have a player who can freeze defenses even if his 'athleticism' isn't all that exceptional?

I was watching it earlier, the commentators seem know a limited amount and most of what they are saying is fluff. I couldn't take it so I've got the DVR recording. I'd love to see Nate and Colton both drafted. My gut tells me both will be looking at free agent contracts. FWIW, I also didn't think Mike Miller was a top 10 draft pick. I have no credibility as it pertains to these matters. Opinions? Yes. Credibility? Not so much.

That was Jay Williams that tried to recover, what a tacky move. That said, i thought the general consensus of that group of talking heads was that Nate IS a NBA player, could make a roster, probably a early 2nd. round pick.

They were different, it was Katz, who knows who South Dakota St. is, but continues to say San Diego St. when on camera, who said that. It was Jay Williams who was talking about Wolters foot speed. IDK, I thought he made a good comparison to Kirk Hinrich. That is who I compare him to. Foot speed will be an issue no doubt. But I don't know if its a big thing. NBA scouts are very different. I've seen them on twitter. and I've got one saying Nate will measure out well, and another saying he will measure poorly. I've got people saying they love his jumper, while others say his jumper needs work. Overall though from the scouts and reporters I've heard Nate did pretty well on the first day. But its like anything, where you have guys who love a player and guys who don't like a player much. They are right on some and wrong on others.

That was Ryen Rusillo that said San Diego State and them made a correction and said "The Pride of South Dakota State put a good move on Kabongo" or something like that. Seriously, they said and showed Kabongos low shooting numbers, and then Wolters put him on skates which lead them to saying he's not known for his defense. Smh. TV talked about how Nate has tweaked his jumper and most people I've seen on twitter have said his jumper is smooth and much bigger than they thought. General consensus from the analysts at the Combine was early second round and Seth Davis said he is the biggest sleeper in the class.

Wolters has deceptive speed and knows when to change gears and he showed that when he put Kabongo on skates. All in all he got some good TV time and tomorrow will be a more important day for him as well as the private workouts. Personally, I think some of the biggest reasons busts occur is because NBA scouts focus too much on their athletic ability and potential but don't look at what his lowest ceiling can be.

From most reports though Wolters is graded higher then Kabango

In his defense, Jay Williams is an idiot. Worst commentator currently at ESPN for college basketball as far as I'm concerned.

EDIT: I see people are now saying it wasn't Jay Williams who made the comment. The point remains, however, Jay Williams is awful.
