    Re: GDT UND at SDSU

One of the best parts of the night had to be when Horstman tried to dunk near the end,and couldn't get the ball over the rim. The entire bench, including assistant coaches were laughing their butts off - Nagy buried his head in his hands, but I think it was to hide a smile.

I was glad that he had the confidence to try it. I watch plenty of players on other teams jam it in when they are close. I don't think we have enough athletes the last few years (with the exception of Moss) that can stand flat footed an jam it in. It will be fun to watch Hortsman the next 4 years.

Fun night at Frost. As an SDSU fan it sure felt good watching the Rabbits drain a "3" up by 30 rather than having someone do it to us. Sweep the artist formerly known as the Sioux this week.

        Go Rabbits!
disagree..... Alford won at Iowa..... That is hard to do

Miller is his assistant now, and if Nagy ever left I'm guessing he would be #1 target (doubt SDSU could afford him)

I think UND is a better team than that, they lost by 3 to Western Illinois.

As far as what Monoghan did. IDK, I don't like those actions, but he is a freshman, it was a pass, wide open, etc. If it was Nate and he threw up a 30 footer I think it would be different. When you lose a game like that, you get angry, you say/do things that you will regret.

Or just regret playing the game so poorly?

Coach Hansen was up top during the women's game with a possible recruit (just guessing he was a recruit). Don't know who it was but he was wearing a New Prague sweatshirt and was probably 4-5" taller than Austin.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

Thanks Joe. I think Jones will eventually get a good program going. UND seems to be ahead of SDSU in the transition period. I would look for them to win a bunch of games in the Big Sky next year. They have not had players leaving and other incidents that SDSU had during the transition period. I think Jones can take credit for what has been accompolished so far. As far as not showing up for the press conference, I would not feel good after being whipped by 40 pts either and he has a choice to show or not show.

I talked to Zach after the game, he was in good spirits. He will probably bring the house down 20-25 during his career at SDSU with a thunderous dunk. The Bench did blow up with laughter because they know what he can do. I think they all get along great. Looking forward to the rest of Zach career.

It has to be difficult for any coach up there. They all play a very distant fiddle to the hockies. I can't imagine it will get any better with the big distances between their new conference foes.

They aren't. They've just played an incredibly soft schedule which set them up with false expectations for last night's game.

My guess would be the recruit was Paul Friendshuh, a 2014 recruit out of New Prague. I've seen him list between 6'6" and 6'8", but there isn't a lot of information on him being that he is just starting his sophomore year of high school.

I believe he visited NDSU for their midnight madness earlier this fall.

It just sounds creepy that we're luring kids on campus with the promise of ice cream.

If he had a couple of steps before going up, he would have had no trouble with the dunk. I do see the guys getting together so I'm sure it was a good ribbing he took.

I think we will agree to disagree. What I am trying to say that after year 5 of the transition, they may very well be ahead of where SDSU was at the end of year 5. We are in our 8 or 9th season at D1 and yes very much ahead of UND. The score tells us that. Those years of transition at SDSU are behind us, thank God. I think Coach Jones has had his problems in getting the kind of recruits he would like to have, but he has not had departures with the exception of Griffin Callahan. Griff said in the Argus that he had a mutual respect for Jones, so even if it did not work out for him, he might be the exception. I have not kept count, but I spent a lot of time in North Dakota, and have read anything about kids quiting. But since I am a loyal Jacks fan, you could not help but be aware of all the transition problems at SDSU.

I do know there are die hard hockey fans at UND, but there are some that are both fans of both sports. To say that BB is second fiddle to hockey is not correct. They had a great road following in the 1990's when Vonnesh and Gulseth were playing. Some of those folks were in the crowd at Frost this past weekend.

We are glad to have you and your son. Your son is a real asset from Illinois, not to far from where I once lived, Hanover Park. One of the many reasons I value Coach Nagy is his recruiting network in Illionis. Callahan brothers have been God Sends.
