Right, I wasn't arguing that. UND isn't very good nor is the Big Sky. I am just saying don't overlook them in GF, they have the talent to beat us if we don't play well.

According to the article, UND took offense to the 3-pointer Monaghan made late in the game. Oh well.

No doubt about it, UND's coach stood up and gave Nagy a glare and said something. Nagy did not see it but I believe Austin Hansen heard it and leaned over to Nagy. What was with the defender at the end of the game as we are trying to run out the clock?

Nagy tried to defuse it. The UND coach also intimated they have a small team and that's why they were outrebounded, but TV remarked several times how big they were. Anyone at the game, did we actually have them outsized.

Don't want him to score? Then stop him from scoring. It's college basketball, grow the eff up. Also, it's not like he shot it with 2 seconds left; there was like 40 some seconds left.

All I know is the buzzer couldn't come soon enough. That dude was about one more 'swipe at the ball' away from being buried by one of Taevaunn's shoulders...

Seriously...what was he supposed to do, run the clock out and take a turnover?

                  Re: GDT UND at SDSU

UND is big, but their big guys aren't that good, and they didn't all play at the same time. They had a s a 6-11 center, a 6-10 center, 6-9 forward, three guys 6-8, and another guy 6-7. But the Jacks outrebounded them by 20. The Jacks hit a late 3, which apparently didn't go over well with UND's bench. Nagy said later that he apologized to their coach for the shot. But a UND player was even more bush by deciding with a few seconds left to quit standing around, letting the clock run out, and to try to aggresively slap the ball out of the hands of Prince, who was running out the clock. Most everyone else on the court was just standing there, too. For some reason, the refs didn't call a foul on the late hack job. They just let the game end.

I was there. No, we didn't outsize them. They have one 6-11 guy, a senior who didn't get a great deal of playing time, one 6-10 guy. I thoughout UND looked a little taller than the Jackrabbits for much of the game. Here are the comparative rosters from the game program.

                    UND
                    0 Anderson, Soph, 5-10

                    44 Hennings, soph 6-6

UND hasn't won a game on the road. Much of tonight the Jacks were obviously the better team. In Nagy's post game press conference (watch/listen yourself -- it's linked to Terry Vandrovec's blog), Nagy notes that UND has had some tough travel lately -- drove all the way to UMKC on 12/8 and then today had to drive down to Brookings -- we know all about being on the road etc. So, Nagy had some empathy for the UND team -- I guess he was saying they're better than the score indicated and the return game at Grand Forks could be a different game entirely.

SDSU for most of the contest looked good on offense and defense and much of the credit for the lopsided margin of victory should be attributed to SDSU putting together its best attempt of the season for a complete game and not how bad UND may be. (but they looked pretty bad!)

Even when UND caught up to within about three after we jumped on them something like 15-2, it seemed like SDSU was simply a better team and there was no way UND was going to hang with the Jackrabbits. I walked out of Frost wondering how bad Montana and Idaho State must be because UND did not look very good tonight.

They rotated more big guys in but they weren't really that much bigger. Their bigs just seemed to be taking up space and not much of an offensive threat. Don't really know what to take from UND from that game because it never seemed like they were in the game.

What a ridiculous gripe by Brian Jones. As RO stated, there was like 40 seconds left in the game, what are we suppose to do, just let the shot clock run out? If Monaghan would have jacked one up with the shot clock off, then it would have been different, but that wasn't the case.

Maybe Coach Jones should focus on his own team's shortcoming instead of trying to find one in the opposing team.

                            That's ridiculous.

Monaghan got the ball on a kickout after UND brought help defense into the lane and there wasn't a defender within 15 feet of him. And, as I recall, there were less than ten seconds on the shot clock.

Just what was he supposed to do? Move up three feet so that it would be a long two? Throw it out of bounds? Take a shot clock violation?

That possession shaped up like a number of other second half possessions: UND aggressively helped on defense and left a guy on the perimeter WIDE open. They did that on like three straight possessions when White, Monaghan and I think Carlson all nailed 3s.

I mean, good for Nagy apologizing after the fact, but it's not like that was a set play. They didn't call a timeout and draw up a play to humiliate UND.

Monaghan is a freshman and did not know better. Nagy said so in his post game remarks.

I was at the game and I wished they would have tried for one more theree during the last 20 seconds. I think its pretty poor to complain about a three that a bench player made the game isn't over just because you want to go home and lick your wounds. Another thing is if we would have hit one more three pointer our ticket stubs would have been worth 5 dollars off a pizza ranch buffet/order. Making promotion on the first opportunity would have been pretty cool.
