Northern Illinois has named their final four candidates:

Gonzaga's Ray Giacoletti
Michigan State's Mark Montgomery
Indiana assistant Tim Buckley
Purdue assistant Paul Lusk

Or you could just ignore it. Another good year or 2 and Nagy could surely get a lot more offers. Nothing wrong with fans talking about what ifs.

I agree. I have never understood the call to close a thread. Threads die in their own time. It is nice to have discussions during the "down time" of athletics.

According to the Chicago Tribune today, NIU is having some difficulty hiring a coach--and Nagy is still on their list.

I think that shows how much some assistants make. In the world of coaching most assistant coaches want to become head coaches. So for them to turn it down it means that they don't feel comfortable with the situation or that the money is not there.

And just as I hit go, I've gotten some twitter updates specifically from Jermey Guy http://twitter.com/#%21/JeremyGuy_MAC that MSU assistant Mark Montgomery has accepted the job.

So I think we can close this thread now
