Spoke with Bruce Weber about a month ago and he said they are almost sure SDSU will be their opening game next year....then I spoke with Coach Nagy this morning and he said the opening game will Illiniois has been confirmed!!!!
Those last two scholarships we have available become even more important playing the likes of the Illini! How much fun would it be to go to Champaign and play the undefeated potential 2005 National Champions.
Wow, what a big step for SDSU. Opening the year in Champainge. I agree that with coach Nagys ties to Illinois that it will help recruiting. Plus recruits seeing that State will go and play the big time programs has to help.
I was @ the "event" after the grand canyon game and they did have contracted home date for the future sheet and it looks like this:

Looks like SDSU's season opener next year won't be against an undefeated returning national champion.
Still, I'm not sure I'm going against Illinois in the Big Dance bracket. I'd settle for just "opening against the returning national champion".
Coach Nagy was on the Jackrabbit Report and he talked about our up coming schedule. Some new names and dates were brought up. He said that we are going to play another NCAA Tourney team, Utah State on the road in '05-'06 and at Frost in '06-'07. He went on to say that we are going to play Cal-State Fullerton twice next year (home and away). They are playing tonight in the Sweet 16 of the NIT on ESPN. He confirmed that we are playing Central Florida again at their place in '05-'06 he went on to say that they will be coming to Brookings in '06-'07. Next year UCF is joining Conference USA. Another team that Coach Nagy said we will play next season is Maine and they are coming to our place. Good stuff.
I just received the "JACKS FLASH" newsletter, I noticed the MBB game against Manhattan will be played in Sioux Falls on Dec 20. I'm glad to see some games being scheduled there. It should really help our exposure to the SF market. Should be a big crowd on hand for that game!!

I was just looking through the tentative schedules for men & women's bball. There are no conflicts between the two teams so far.
I did notice that it looks like a DOUBLE HEADER again in Fargo?
There does appear to be a conflict. The Men are at home against the Bison on Feb 18th, the women play at Fargo on the same date. This is the worst possible scenario. How can a fan be at two places at one time? ???
