Of the MVFC teams, only two outside NDSU are in states with a D-1 hockey program (Youngstown State & Indiana State), and those states' D-1 hockey program aren't in UND's conference (Miami, Ohio State & Notre Dame)--even assuming that there's a significant cross pollination between those fan bases and the Sycamore & Penguin fan bases.
Oh don't say that too loud, because OSU is in the WCHA

This is indeed true, but my reference was going to D1 Hockey about 1997, and the amount of money invested at that point in time, did handicap MSU-M outlook to moving up all sports to D1 about four years later. I sure you can run a D2 hockey program for much less than than the current budget for hockey would show. It was much less costly in 1981 then it is now. SCSU, UNO and MSU-M went D1 in hockey only about the same time and it was costly to do so. Thats my point.

IMO, how good a school's basketball team is has no bearing on people wanting to schedule their football team. At least, for a successful program, it shouldn't have any bearing on it.

In FBS, the computers and voters reign supreme and a win over Duke isn't going to win you any points on either side. SAme goes for Georgetown.

Perhaps being able to take a recruit to a Duke or Georgetown baketball game may sway a kid or two, but in the long run a team has to win for it to matter in FBS or FCS football.

While Villanova's FCS team is VERY good CAA football, Georgetown is the Morningside of the Patriot League when it comes to football. If it wasn't for Ind. St. U record for ineptitude, the FCS world would be talking about Georgetown. Actually surprised that Hoyas play in a "schollie" auto-bid league rather than the non-schollie Pioneer. More local games for Georgetown.
