For some reason, I thought USF had gotten a 2 away for 1 home with the Sioux - but they're not on the Sioux's schedule next year. (They are on 11-12 schedule, in Grand Forks, though)

Could you imagine if UND would have had to play 3 games in South Dakota next year? I'm not a huge fan of the Nov 20th slot - that might favor the Sioux (if they send their hockey team, I guess).

Am I going to get in trouble for referring to them as the Sioux?

UND agreed to a two game deal with USF with both games in GF. The first one was a $65k payout to USF, and I suspect the second game will be the same.


And please buy them out. I shouldn't say that, but I'd love to see it happen. Maybe a $500k+ FBS payday will come a callin' and it will be just too good of an offer to pass up.

Agree 100%. Just buy them out. No desire to go to South Canada for a football game in 2013.

I think they are in the works already for an FBS in 2013. We won't buy out the contract. That's bad business(after all aren't we still sore with Montana?), what happens when we are in a bind again? There's still room for a FBS school in 2013 I believe. Although we need to be a bottom feeder for most of those lower tiered FBS schools to want to schedule us anymore, especially after our performance against U of Minn. last year. Very surprised Col. State scheduled Montana, could be a L for the Rams.

Is this the order currently for FBS schools?:

2010 Nebraska
2011 Illinois
2012 Minnesota
2015 Minnesota?

I was mostly joking - notice the statement about waiting for someone with $100,000? Obviously money is better spent on something else other than buying out a contract unless its absolutely necessary.

Am I alone in being interested in at least a game with UxD every year? Those two teams are GREAT OOC's. I like seeing the GWFC teams get good games, and MVFC teams are good.

I am with you and would like to see both USD and UND on the schedule every season, but then if we have budget woes to deal with, being locked in on a 5 year basis, would or could lock us out of the Big money games, ie Big 10 or Big 12 games. If these opportunities dry up then the UXD become very attractive. I suspect both will be part of the Missouri Valley Football Conference soon, so maybe we get our wish in the form of a conference games.

SIU won't vote for more expansion to the Dakotas

If the MVFC was to shoose one of them it would be USD simply for geography reasons

If Montana leaves the BSC Southern Utah is first in with USD or UND being last resorts

I could live with UxD on the schedule every season. However, with only 3 OOC games each year I think that we might only be able to fit one of them per season in order to play a game against a non-regional quality team like Delaware, Georgia Southern, McNeese, or any of several others. I think the non-regional game is important as a barometer to see how our style and quality of play stacks up around the country.

I agree with the Southern Utah(I did forget about them). But I disagree wholeheartedly with the USD over UND if one were picked. UND has so much more going for it as far as money, T.V. capabilities, and prestige with it's D1 hockey than USD(or SDSU) could dream of. You would have to take UND over USD based on $$$$$$$$.
(but I like the discussion going on in here).
