When the Jacks did not go for it on 4th and 1 at the Bison 43 and then took a penalty to get him some more room to work he kicked it to the 19, nice coffin corner.

Said it before, except for Montague who is going to break one for a TD yet this year, the ST yesterday were horrid.

Back to the offense standing on the brakes. Rollin was very active in the first quarter when TOB was in sync and driving the team down the field and then Rollin was barely ever in the game after that. TV has said Rollin and TOB have a good working relationship, get the guy some more game time! He somehow did get run down by a guy with the #70, though, obviously not blowing anyone away with his speed.

How? The only problem was the punt that was blocked.

I'd have to look at the tape, but I'm guessing the punt block was due to a breakdown in protection more than anything else. Priddy looked like his normal self to me.

And regardless of the block, he had an awful lot to do with field position in that game. He punted 7 times, pinned the Bison inside the 20 five times and forced one fair catch. The other punt? That's the one that was blocked. The Bison had 18 punt return yards on only two returns.

That's a pretty darned good night for a punter. Maybe the block was his fault. But I'm guessing if you asked the rest of the punt team, they'd tell you they could have blocked better on that one.
      Holy nutmeg!

I would say that punt nearly sealed the game, except we done some stupid things that got them to our 35. I wondering how those that got nailed for the unsportmanslike and personal foul penalties will be dealt with in practice. Laps perhaps?
Best part of the play was the 2 saves of the ball going into the end zone. The punt was great, don't get me wrong, but the player hitting the ball first to stop if from going into the end zone and the second player who was smart enough to crawl out of the end zone before touching it made the overall play great. Great all around teamwork for that play to happen.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

I especially noticed how the second guy made sure he re-established himself outside the end zone before downing the ball. Very heads-up play.

I expect to see video of the Jacks keeping that ball out of the endzone when I watch the television show tonight at 10:30. It was pure textbook stuff and a fabulous effort by the two Jacks who ran down and kept that ball out of the endzone. I'm uncertain who they were...Tyrel Kool one of them?

It seems we have held back on some of our weapons. We were going with what worked but think about the possibilities if we engage Cochart, Fox, Steffan more.

General Parnell, Defensive POW last week vs. Mizz St., was the player who restablished himself before downing the ball.

I was hoping I was going to wake up today and see some pictures of SDSU players hosting the trophy, what gives? Not one photo anywhere on the inter-web.

I agree, with O'Brien's are I would like to see more down field especially off play-action in short yardage situations. I can't help but think that Cochart running down the seam on a typical safety is a size advantage that can not hurt to exploit. Oh well, it's always easy to Sunday morning quarterback the play calling and other decisions that are made on Saturday. I for one hope we don't get to the point of our counterparts up north. It amazes me how simple they think coaching 18-23 year-olds are. People need to remember that we see a very small picture on gameday, in which alot of time, effort, etc goes on behind the scenes during the previous week, season, offseason. That's just football related things, nevermind the lives of the players outside of football.

Thanks . . . I couldn't remember who it was. I'm not surprised. Parnell seems to be a pretty heads-up player generally.

And no, that pun wasn't intended. But it works.

Personally, I would like to see a lot more play action on short yardage situations. 4th and short plunge Minnett into the line like everyone knows we are going to and get Cochart to the sticks and hit with a touch pass TOB, not a missile. One short yardage play we lost 2 or 3 yards due to the D-Line surge. Would also like to see that shot downfield after the turnover. Get one big play after another. Put the nail in the coffin kind of thing.

However, as long as we keep scoring more points than the opponent du jour I will be happy.

Could not agree more about the tight end down the seam on play action. That play should be good for 60-80 yds a week. We really need to utilize Cochart more down the middle.

In regards to Rollin and TOB's near interception- it loked to me like Rollin failed to make an adjustment to his route with the Bison bringing a heavy blitz. TOB talked to Rollin even before they got off the field. May have had a little to do with less Rollin after that - in addition to it seemed like we wanted the result of the game to be squarely on the defense. In the end we made the plays that were key to the game and the Bison failed to convert many of their potential game changing plays.

Great teams find ways to win even though it doesn't always look pretty. A comfortable win and 5-1 (4-0) at this point is very sweet. The plan this year from the get go was for the O to score enough points, without turnovers to let the D ride it to victory. They accomplished that Saturday.

We aren't a shootout team this year and need to control the game. Which we didn't execute in our lone loss. Stig has been consistently raising the bar every year and I am just fine with that.

Next week will tell us just how far we have jumped.

I'm pretty sure it was Tyrel Kool that saved it and Bo Helm who established position "out" of the endzone, but I could be wrong.

That is what I saw as well darkerstill. Tyrel (31) made the diving swat to keep the ball out of the endzone and Helm (19) downed it. Total agreement that it was a superb effort and heads up play.
