Real, brief conversation I had with a catty woman in NDSU gear walking to the game from the muddy Back Yard.

NDSU Dame: You know, they make concrete. Why don't you guys use some?

Me: We're getting there. Why don't you just worry about winning a game one of these days.

Now, I won't start a chippy conversation like that, but I will respond when somebody takes a dig. And my comment ended our little talk quickly. I was pretty pleased with myself.

Some guy on the Bison side took his shoes off before the game and was holding them up and complaining about the mud. He was real loud when the Bison were up 7-0, but he must have spent the rest of the game removing the mud from his sneakers.

Well, it is a good thing that he didn't get them any muddier by charging the field after a Bison victory like they were planning.

TV is tweeting this morning that Bison have switched qbs. Bison "faithful" were clamoring for that BEFORE the game Saturday on their side of the field, then they quieted down a little after they got ahead; then when it was 14-7 they decided the switch was a good idea again.... Not saying they were fair weather fans..... but if the muddy shoe fits..... wear it...

IMO, I love the fact that the tailgating area was muddy. I also loved that the stands and field were not perfect. As SDSU fans we don't need everything to be perfect to enjoy the game. All we need is a good team playing good ball.

I remember thinking that when NDSU scored on their 1st possession that it was going to be great to watch the Bizun fans come crashing down.

I was surprised on the number of bison fans who left early! I think there's more fair weather in some of those fans than they'd care to admit. At the same time, I can understand why it was hard to stick it out to the end: it's just not the year for the bison.

Not in defense of the student secion leaving at halftime, but I think there are two reasons for it:
1) Not many people were dressed for just standing in the bleachers, as the students at the top seem to just sit and do . These were a solid majority of people who left the game, from the top. Also, a lot of the people who left were female. Not being sexist, but I personally don't know a ton of girls that are big football fans.

2) I personally nevery really got a sense of the game being in doubt at all, except for that first drive, I don't think that a lot of the students are into the team enough yet to stick it out through the chill, especially when their liquid heat they had consumed wears off .

I was still very dissappointed in the large amount that left the game, but I think that the noise generated by the student section was pretty good throughout the game on third downs and such. At least they filled up and overflowed the student section, unlike the Bison students are doing Made me feel good to hear the cops stopping new people from walking by and going, "Its full, you'll have to find another spot." with about 15 min left before the game started. A lot of the south endzone was students. So at least thats a positive about them

Not in defense of the student secion leaving at halftime, but I think there are two reasons for it:
1) Not many people were dressed for just standing in the bleachers, as the students at the top seem to just sit and do . These were a solid majority of people who left the game, from the top. Also, a lot of the people who left were female. Not being sexist, but I personally don't know a ton of girls that are big football fans.

I really don't think many college students (especially the females) or a lot of the rest of fans dress at all like they are going to be standing outside in near freezing temperatures (possibly freezing as you get higher on the west side). Most of them just have a hoodie and jeans, and MAYBE a coat.

I had on longjohns, pajama pants, and flannel lined jeans, two pairs of socks and work boots on my lower half, and a long john top, a long sleeve shirt, a hoodie and a wind breaker on my top half. I stood the entire game with my back to the wind (top row of the east side, 50 yd line). I yelled and clapped and cheered the entire game and never got cold once.

More people need to dress like that, and actually not sit there on their duffs, then they wouldn't get cold and have to leave. Silly people!

Looking forward to doing it all over again this saturday!

The only time that I got cold is when I was in line for the bathrooms at halftime. Luckily doing the "gotta pee dance" while the NDSU band was on the field helpd quite a bit.

Wear an extra long sleeve shirt, put on your wool caps and cheer the Jacks the entire game on Saturday.

Take those gloves off and put your hands together! It's louder and they'll stay warm if you clap enough. And if you get off your @$$ and yell you'll stay warm that way too! Home field advantage people, it's gonna be a whale of a game.

We are fortunate that in our section in the upper rows of section E, several stand up and cheer. I had to shed some clothes as the game went on cause I was getting too warm. Got rid of the cap, gloves for some of the game and one of my sweatshirts. Dress for the weather and get loud!!!

What you are saying is that some students need their mother to tell them to dress properly for football games. I saw a few wandering around in basketball trunks and small jackets. Of course they probably cant put the cell phone down long enough to watch the weather channel

The student section leaving is a whole other issue..

I would be willing to bet the ratio of people leaving was a lot higher from the adult sections. The whole "I'm here for the Pride" attitude is still prevalent. You have to remember that the student section was FULL 35 minutes before kickoff. How often has that happened in any other sections around the stadium. As other posters have said we made a lot of noise for a majority of the game including the big 3rd downs. There were probably 100 students that were outside of the gate at 4:00 to wait in line to get in. Sorry that we can't afford season tickets yet. If you would like to actually come cheer at a game come to the student section and we'll show you how to do it. Also, next year when the student section moves where the Pride is currently located that will fix a lot of the problems with adults not standing in those middle sections.
